I'm sure that there is a simple way to do this, but I haven't figured it out yet! I often send friends and family links to sites I'm spending a lot of time at, or are in reference to a subject that we are discussin. Each time I want to send a different person a link I have to open that page and copy the URL. What is the simplest way to create a "bank" of links? The only think I have thought of so far is to paste them into Word docs and go copy them from there; but that still involves hunting, copying and pasing into an email message. I use Outlook Express for email, but could possibly switch to regular Outlook if this would help. |

Hi, I dont know if this is helpful, but why dont you add the links as favourites and then refer to them later. The favourites option given on most navigators itself serves as a 'bank' of link... You just have to right click on the 'favourite' item and select properties for the address in the URL box(even offline). Warm Regards and Season's Greetings! Shiv Reddy |

Hi shivreddy, I thought of this too, but it still requires them to open the page and copy the URL (or open the properties for the page). This would work if you could drag the shortcut from the favorites to MS Word, but when I tried this, it didn't work. Hopefully someone out there has a good answer. :) tisme-ga |

Dear Meego, Another way of simplifying your problem is to create a web page containing a list of the links you need. You can easily annotate the links with brief descriptions, so that your correspondents can simply find the one they need. You can make this page a secret page on an existing web site, if you have one - not linked from other pages, so that anyone not in the know will not stumble across it. Alternatively there are plenty of free web hosting services out there, so that you can create a new, perhaps single-page, web site just for this purpose. Then all you need to quote to your correspondents is the URL of your links page, which you can most easily just type each time you need it. I trust this helps. Carnegie |

Hi all, I like QuickPhrase, which can be found at http://www.TypingMaster.com . It's a great little program that sits in your taskbar. You copy and paste whatever you want into it (a list of links would be fine) and it is there whenever you need it. In the newest free version, I think you can only have up to 10 phrases (your list of links would be one phrase, you would have 9 left to use). In my older version, I can have up to 100 phrases but I think it is no longer available. It's just a matter of 1. Right Click; 2. Left Click on the phrase you want to copy/paste and presto, your list of links will be wherever your cursor is - works anywhere, email, Word, wherever you happen to be at the time. Cheers, hummer |

Have you considered a Bookmarks/Favorites Manager? This allows you to save all your bookmarks in one place, regardless of which browser you are using at a particular time. The one I am recommending, NetVisulaize is particularly powerful. In addition to organizing your bookmarks, it creates a thumbnail image of the saved web page, making it easier to remember. I also noted that it offers an "email selected links" function. The download is free. For the first 30 days it runs in "Plus" mode, then reverts to free mode. If you decide you must have the plus features, you can then pay for them, otherwise you can simply continue to use it in free mode. I think the free features will do all you need. Here is a link to the features of the free and plus version, followed by a link to the free download: http://www.netvisualize.com/products_mainfeatures.html http://www.netvisualize.com/download.html If you do not like that particular product, you may wish to further evaluate these other Bookmark Managers. However, while they appear to allow you to export lists, I did not see an email function. These are also free: Quiet Tech Netrix Links Manager (direct link unavailable. Find it in the short list of items under "Software") http://www.quiettech.com/ Weblinks Organizer http://www.rwakelin.freeserve.co.uk/weblinks/weblinks.htm |

carnegie - I'm learning how to do the webpage thing as we speak, but it may be awhile. A single page of links however, in the meantime, is a great idea! hummer - Your little program sounds perfect, I'll go check it out. snapanswer - I'll check out your idea too. Thanks everyone for the good ideas - meego |

The latest ClipMate (v. 6) may be your answer. It saves anything that's cut or copied. These individual items can be dragged a separate directory (e.g., "links frequently shared"), from which you just open the directory, click on the item, then do a "paste" to insert it. You can "fast-paste" the individual items so they paste in, one after the other, with each click; or you can lump certain ones together and paste them all with one click. If you can't remember the item, you can search among the clips on the basis of content, time of copying, type of content (e.g., html), etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I've had ClipMate for the past few years and find new uses all the time. For example, after I type this comment, I'll select and copy it into Clipmate, where I can run a spell-check. Then, with one click, I'll paste the corrected text back into this space, replacing the original uncorrected text. You can use ClipMate free for 30 days, then must pay $24.95 to keep it permanently. Check it out at <http://www.thornsoft.com/index.htm>. Oh yes, I should add that I have no financial link with ClipMate; I just find it to be one of the best auxiliary applications I've ever found, and am eager to share the word about this helpful tool with others. |

I use a great bookmarking site, www.backflip.com. You can bookmark hundreds of sites, add comments and share pages of bookmarks. You can also save/print pages of bookmarks with your comments. A couple of hints: the site truncates very long url's. So if it's important to have a hard copy of the url, recopy it into the comments field. If you share a page with a friend, the friend will get a e-mail every time you add a bookmark to the page - that can be annoying, because if you add 5 bookmarks in a day, your friend will get 5 e-mails. It may be easier to develop a site which you intend to share and give your friends the password. Finally, I don't know how the handful of guys who run the site keep it up. There is minimal advertising and they don't charge anything for their wonderful service. I click on their banners hoping that'll keep them in business and I make hard copies of my bookmarks every so often. |

Thanks everyone! Hummer, you win the prize! I love Phrase Express, and it works for my needs better than anything else I've tried so far. Meego |
