I'm terrible at spelling and would like a small application, free or
shareware, that I could install on my XP OS and can activate in any
windows, inlcuding on the web while filling out online forms. <:-)

To find the software you had requested I used download.com – searched
on “spellchecker,” then sorted by ratings – the program I am
recommending you try (I just test-installed it and it works nicely!)
is called “SpellCheckAnywhere 2.0” – it received a rating of 88/100. 
Sometimes I’ll try programs based on the highest number of downloads,
but in this case the most frequently downloaded programs have received
pretty low ratings.  You can download the spellchecker from –

You’ll receive a 15-day trial.  If you like the program, it can be

To activate the program from inside any program, hit the F11 key.  As
a bonus, the program comes with a modified Notepad program – you can
access it through the F12 key.

Excellent work!  I appreciate the explaining of the path you took.  I
don't like download.com as they bugged me for a while to fill their
forms. :-)
