I live in Illinois,am being downsized from a salaried/w bonuses sales position on Dec.31.I have held a part-time acting job with varying paychecks of $35-90,an independent contractor position which has added about $1500-2000 to my income. My salary was in the low 40's in my fulltime position. In filing for unemployment, will my 1099 acting job hinder the process or matter at all? |

I couldn't find the answer quickly on the Illinois site. I can tell you, however, that in some states any money you make from part-time self-employment is deducted from your unemployment earnings, but it doesn't affect your eligibility (provided that your self-employment isn't an obstacle to you finding a full-time job). In your case, instead of being able to receive, say, $400 a week in unemployment, you might be able to receive only $360. I wish I had the information for Illinois, but I don't. http://www.ides.state.il.us/ |
