Hi,

I am having a hard time coming up with ideas for an essay. I would
like to know some introductions to the following question. In
particular, can you give an alternative/creative way of answering this
question:

First experiences can be defining. Cite a first experience that you
have had and explain its impact on you.

Hi! I would like to answer this question but would need some
clarification. Since it would be impossible to write this kind of
essay for you I already presume that you just want a strategy to
answer this question. But anything we could come up with will be
highly personal. Since we have individual styles of writing at least
objective goals must be set. What parameters must the suggestion
contain and what do you expect in such a strategy so it would be
considered a legitimate answer.

Just let me know. :)

Yes, I would like a strategy and not an essay. I have 'ideas' and have
started the essay but I want to see if there is another way to
approach the essay that is more creative. I am looking for something
like 10 different ways to ask the same question but get different
results. I have thought of the first experiences with people and
things, but what other items am I overlooking???
First experiences of touch....
First experiences of taste....
First experiences of being let down...

thanks!!

Sorry but I just want to make sure. Do you just want a list of first
experience things for your topic? This is because you told me that you
already have something written. Just let me know. :)

Sure, but questions that would evoke emotion, a plot of bad to good
(misunderstanding to understanding ...etc), or to something very
simple that can be made humorous. Something that challenges common
thought?

I am sorry for the poor clarification of my question. btw, I have
already written about my first experience lying to my parents. I just
want to see if there are other things I can write about that would be
very appealing.

THANKS!

Since I would need more time to think of a more acceptable answer, I
am keeping this question open so that other researchers maybe able to
get a crack at it. Thanks!

gurunish...

I gather that this is your 'first time' writing about
the topic of first time experiences...*smile*

I thought I would provide you a series of inspiring
links. Some are examples of others writing about
a first time experience. Others are suggestions
for doing it yourself.

First is an anonymous contribution to the online
magazine 'Recess', which is an excellent forum
for first time writers to share their efforts:

Travel provides a rich resource for firsts.
Here is a writer describing some first time
experiences in relation to a trip to Bangkok,
from the online journal of Scott Takeda, in
his 'Search for Thor' - a beautiful woman who
came to him in a dream, encouraging him to do
the things that make him happy, and stop doing
the things that make him unhappy:

His odyssey starts here:

The next site explores a Japanese father's
experiences of the first times that his son,
Daiki, does things for the first time, in
an online growth record, here:

Here's a teacher's suggestions for getting
started with the process of writing an
essay on first time experiences, courtesy
of Leona Whitehat, at Black Hills State
University, in South Dakota:

A couple of outdoor adventure sites talk
about the experiences of camping, cooking
out, boating, rock-climbing, hiking, etc.
for the first time. These are topics with
great potential.

And, of course, for generating interest,
there's nothing like describing your first
kiss, or a first date. Readers never tire
of contrasting their own experiences with
those of the author, remembering them
fondly in the process.

Here's another writer's article on the
topic of first time experiences.
Barbara L. Pagano, Ed.S describes her
first time, as a teenager, of a boy
communicating his love to her.
Barbara is a nationally recognized speaker
and executive development consultant.

Here, Jun, an online magazine, asks four
young men about the experience of their
first kiss:

Your first time away from home can also
produce some powerful experiences. I will
never forget my first time, when I was
enrolled in a summer camp for 3 weeks.
Memorable firsts surrounding that were
homesickness, butt rash, catching and
eating eel (yum), riding a horse, and
much more. Unforgettable.

I hope this inspires your imagination
and creative juices.

Please do not rate this answer until you are satisfied that
the answer cannot be improved upon by means of a dialog with
the researcher through the "Request for Clarification" process.

Thanks for your answer, but I was hoping you could provide me with
some creative fiction from your mind. I can also search for the 'first
time experiences' but I wanted something very odd/imaginative, 4 or 5
things will do.

first time of family shock: finding out that my cousin was adopted
etc...

thanks
