I am evaluating google as an internet search engine in a report format and should consider the following search and browsing facilities - include how easy /difficult it is to search;what approaches (fields) are available;subject/controlled language searching;index and browse displays;boolean and word proximity searching facilities;ability to reference back to previous searches;search history displays;informativeness/helpfulness or otherwise of search menus;whether different levels of searcher are catered for(e.g novie and expert) display and processing facilities - to include the range and helpfulness of display formats on offer; tailor making opportunities; the ease with which you can move from searching to displaying and back again;whether document records can be displayed or stored for future use; sort facilities; availability of full text. Help and guidance provided - to include help facilities; on screen advice or information; quality of any supporting documentation. Use and effectiveness. Include ease of use(user-friendliness);ease of navigation; amount of training required;generaly efficiency/effectivness in retrieval(recall and precision); quality of retrieved data;speed of response;cost. comments should be supported by evidence or examples |
