I am a native citizen of the U.S. My father is Egyptian, but naturalized as an American. I am told I can recieve Egyptian citizenship easily due to my father's nationality, but can I do this and still keep my American citizenship. Primarily, I want to get an Egyptian passport in addition to my American one. How (if at all) can I do this? |

I have answered a rather similar question. My previous answer might be of assistance to you. "Dual Citizenship between USA and Australia" https://answers.google.com/answers/main?cmd=threadview&id=108190 |

What you are asking is legal in the United States (assuming the Egyptian government permits this), but don't talk to an US immigration lawyer, don't tell the US government you're doing this, and don't show both passports at the US border. To understand this contradiction, please read the following FAQ in its entirety. http://www.richw.org/dualcit/faq.html |

Kameel, Since I know there's compulsary military conscription in Egypt, I suggest you'll check you commitments as an Egyptian citizen living abroad (for example: if you visit Egypt, would they conscript you? If you have a male son and he's Egyptian, would he be obliged to serve in the military? etc.) |
