Question ID: 133601
What is the full name of the art grant (include name of granting
agency/corporation) that Lucy Liu received to study art in China,
after she exhibited her multi-media artwork in 1993 at the Cast Iron
Gallery in SoHo?

In most of her biographies on the Internet, the art grant is
mentioned, but not the name of the grant or granting agency.

I have done the following Google searches and could not find the name of the
art grant, but I may have missed something:

"lucy liu" 1993 "art grant"
"lucy liu" 1993 art "cast iron"
"lucy liu" 199 art grant

I'm interested in applying to such an art grant.

I do understand the procedure for applying to art grants, and I'm
familiar with grant-writing in general. My question therefore remains
the same.

The following avenues of inquiry may be fruitful:

(These are NOT to be considered my Google question--these are just
provided to the GA community to spur thought.)

I wonder if granting agencies post public lists of their awardees?

Perhaps using "Lucy Alexis Liu" will get an answer?

What about contacting her current talent agency?

Hi vkrn,

I've tried to find the information on the art grant Lucy Liu received,
and found nothing. If you contact her at the following address asking
your question - perhaps someone there will be able to help you find
the information you desire. (Can't hurt to ask!)

I'll keep looking for an email address to contact her through her
agency...

You can contact Lucy Liu at:

Lucy Liu
C/O Ally McBeal
Manhattan Beach Studios
1600 Rosecrans Ave Building 4A,
3rd Floor Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 USA

Best regards,

tlspiegel

Hi--I had actually found that address for Lucy Liu, but the TV show
"Ally McBeal" was cancelled at least two seasons ago. So I don't
think that address would help.

Googling for ( "lucy liu" "grant from a corporation" ) returns several
results, one of which is in Czech, I think. I can't read it, perhaps
there's useful information in it.

"art grant" -"grant from a corporation" would be a good direction to
go, perhaps.

Looking at "V roce 1993 vystavovala kolekci multimediálního umění v
Cast Iron Gallery v SoHo (New York), po které získala grant na studium
a tvorbu v Číně," as well as the main body of the Czech article on
Lucy Liu, seems to yield the same information that's found in the
English language fansites.

By matching as many words in English to the Czech that I can, and
going by the English language content from other websites, I'm
guessing that the Czech says something about how after she had her
multimedia exhibit at the Cast Iron Gallery in Soho, she received a
grant to study in China.

Hmmm. I wonder if I should up the price of this question! I didn't
think it'd be _that_ hard to answer!
