Which model are looking for a file? I have the part number and a
location for a file that is the standard for:
Makita 5012B

tar_heel_v If the sight you found has a selection of Makita files
which includes a 4.8 mm file, you have a right answer. The part
number I listed above is for a Makita 4.8 mm chain saw file.

A web site where I can view and buy 4.8 mm chain saw files, any brand,
would now be considered a right answer. My options seem to be running
out.

tibiaron,

Since you have changed your requirements, we can help out :)

There are several places where you can purchase 4.8mm chain saw files.
Bear in mind that a 4.8mm file is equivilant to a 3/16" file:

Jack's Small Engines
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/chainsaw.cfm

EZE-LAP Diamond Products
http://www.eze-lap.com/product/chainsaw.htm

Corner Hardware Store
http://www.cornerhardware.com/hardware/Powertools/Saws/Chain_Saws/Chain_Saw_Blades_Files-2061.html

Good luck with your purchase!

If you need any additional clarification, please let me know!

Thank you for the rating. I realized I provided the wrong link for
Jack's Small Engines. The files can be found at
http://www.jackssmallengines.com/chaintoolfile.cfm

Regarding the 4.8mm/3-16, the reason I stated that was that several of
the sites, including the one above, listed 4.8mm(3/16") when listing
file sizes. I guess it is one of the metric "close-enough"
comparisons that seems to be common in tools. I hope that one of the
sources I provided helps.

Thanks again!

3/16 is not 4.8 mm, it's 4.37 mm. I really want the 4.8 mm which the
owners manual specifies. I know I'm splitting hairs. Two of the three
sites you listed are going to be useful to me, and I appreciate your
efforts. You found better sites that I was able to find.
