Globalization began thousands of years ago with certain nations
exploiting other nations of their minerals, inventions, treasures and
even taking slaves. Some of the details have changed, but the result
is not much different except a semi organized group of rich and
powerful are doing it on a much larger and more complex scale. I agree
it is easy to find fault and much more difficult to propose a workable
plan that is reasonablly fair to all concerned. ie A few rich and
powerful people in Iraq are getting nearly all the money which other
nations are paying for the oil being pumped out of Iraq. The common
folks in Iraq get neither enough food nor a decent education nor
freedom. If the common folks were getting a reasonable share, I would
say we are not paying enough for the oil as most of it will be gone in
a century or less. The small amount left will then be worth far more
money than now, so future generations are being cheated in oil
producing countries, as scarsely any of the money is trickling down,
and it is probable that the great grandchildren of these counties will
have a misserable life partly because their valuable resourse is being
squandered. Neil |
