"Ewell Blackwell was born on Monday, October 23, 1922, and began his
Major League baseball career in 1942 with the Cincinnati Reds. The 20
year-old played for 10 seasons on 3 different teams and ended his big
league playing career in 1955."

His nickname was "The Whip".  He died in 1996.
