Hello mathijs-ga "Ewell Blackwell was born on Monday, October 23, 1922, and began his Major League baseball career in 1942 with the Cincinnati Reds. The 20 year-old played for 10 seasons on 3 different teams and ended his big league playing career in 1955." from The Baseball Almanac http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=blackew01 His nickname was "The Whip".
