Greetings Carryoutlady! I have found a few realistic penguins for your outdoor pleasure and I hope that one is the type of statue for which you are searching. Without an image to go by, I included links for penguins that I felt were realistic. Realistic, yes, yet lounging in a chair http://www.talariaenterprises.com/product_lists/garden_pg2.html Cheerful penguin spreading wings http://gardenartbysandpiper.com/Collectable_Item.php/78332.html King penguin garden statue (an auction item by penguin artist Karen Tiede) http://www.ncsu.edu/jcraulstonarboretum/index.html?page=/jcraulstonarboretum/gala/2002/auction_items/penguin.html I then searched "Karen Tiede penguin" and it appears she is "an accomplished chainsaw penguin carver." A bio of her is located at the site Pittsboro penguins and may be viewed at http://www.pittsboropenguins.com/web_writing/bio.htm - If the penguin you saw was wooden, it may have been her work. The Pittsboro penguin web site is located at http://www.pittsboropenguins.com/ and offers: Kings http://www.pittsboropenguins.com/web_writing/kings.htm Emperors (the one of the 6 baby emperors is simply charming!) http://www.pittsboropenguins.com/web_writing/emperors.htm Adelies http://www.pittsboropenguins.com/web_writing/adelies.htm All the pieces are somewhat costly yet very impressive artworks and the site offers much information on penguins as well as including instructions on proper care of the statues. Continuing with other penguin statue links are; Penny Penguin (another artist chainsaw carving - look in the last line of pictures on the page) http://www.mainstreetnursery.com/nursery/sculpture/sculpt4.htm#penny Pop and Benji Penguin (realistic but in skates and clothes) http://www.coolgardenstuff.com/products2/prods/MGLPENGA.html Two stone garden penguins http://hedwigr.free.fr/NOFRAMES/Verznewnf_eng.html Penguin garden topiary (a living statue) http://www.countrygardensinc.com/s/shop/item.asp_Q_id_E_244982 I also located an interesting news story about stolen penguin statues that I thought you might find interesting. It's located at http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_702831.html?menu=news.quirkies I hope that one of these images is the one for which you are searching. If not, please use the "Request A Clarification" feature of this program before you rate my answer so that I will have the opportunity to research further for you before you close the question. if I might add to journalist's list, there's also a very handsome penguin lawn ornament -- 22 inches tall, $19.95 -- at the all penguins, all the time site: http://www.penguin-place.com/cgi-bin/html_web_store.cgi?page=new_1_30/index.html&cart_id=7729540.16812764 |

carryoutlady, If you do not feel that journalist had yet answered your Question to your satisfaction, you should use the "Request Clarification" process, rather than rating your Answer prematurely. Once a Question has been rated, the Rating can NOT be changed. Typically, when a Rating is posted on a Question, it means that the Customer has closed the Question, and no further input is required from the Researcher. For a helpful tutorial on how to use the Clarification process, please see the guide created by Researcher skermit-ga at: http://www.christopherwu.net/google_answers/answer_guide.html Regards, aceresearcher |
