I recently enjoyed reading "Rise of Endymion" by Dan Simmons (1997, ISBN 0-553-10652-X), and I'd like to read the first three books of the series (Hyperion, Fall of Hyperion, Endymion). I don't really like paperbacks, however, hardcovers of the older three books haven't been printed in quite a while. The usual online bookstores only have paperbacks (plus a used hardcover of the third book at Amazon). Amazon has hardcovers of a couple listed on its site, but none in stock (something that's making me more and more frustrated with Amazon: 90% of the items in their system seem to be permanently out of stock, but instead of unlisting them, they leave them there to taunt and frustrate us by showing us what we can't have). I'd like to find hardcovers of all three books. A perfect answer would require the following: * Hardcovers of all three books from one source. * New, or near-mint-condition used. * Reputable online merchant; takes Visa and ships to U.S.. * Price at or below original retail price. A satisfactory answer would include the following: * Hardcovers of all three books from one source or multiple sources. * Good condition; dustjackets not missing. * From any source that can ship to me (auctions, used book lists on personal websites, whatever). To summarize, these are the three books I'm looking to purchase in hardcover format: 1. Hyperion, Dan Simmons, 1989 2. Fall of Hyperion, Dan Simmons, 1990 3. Endymion, Dan Simmons, 1995 I already own the fourth book of the series: Rise of Endymion, Dan Simmons, 1997 Thank you very much. |

Hello, I love it when someone gets the bug for a good set of books! I think I have a near perfect answer. The books are available from a single source, abebooks.com, who lists books available through a network of used book dealers. The benefit is that it meets your requirements for a reputable online seller that takes VISA and ships to the US. Most of the books on their site can be purchased through them. http://www.abebooks.com Here is what I found: Hyperion: Paperback Palace - $6.99 (even though the name says paper the book is hard.) http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?AID=7169465&PID=284433&bi=134855096 Fahrenheit's Books - $150.00 http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?AID=7169465&PID=284433&bi=133112546 Fall of Hyperion: The Corner Book Store - $40.00 http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=20585220 Jeff'N'Joys Quality Used Books - $27.14 http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=134684910 Endymion: Seaside Book & Stamp - $5.00 http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=70915520 Magnum Opus Books - $15.00 http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=135078104 You can also buy the set of four: Cwn4books - $650.00 (Signed by author - first edition) http://dogbert.abebooks.com/abe/BookDetails?bi=122780514 By no means was this the entire selection. If you go to the abebooks.com site and search for Simmons and Hyperion you will see over 140 selections. Searching for Endymion showed 190. I am extremely confident that you'll be able to secure the books you are looking for from a single source I used the following search terms on Google: out of print books I then clicked on the Sponsored Link for Longaeva Books and noticed that they were using the abebooks.com engine. Once I was on the abebooks.com site I searched for the author and titles. The toughest title to find was Hyperion, but there were several vendors who had it for sale. Have fun with the books! pgrote-ga |

In the great Northwest (well, Portland anyway) there is a book store which covers 3 square blocks and is two stories tall, if you stuck all the sites together. This is Powell's book store and I've yet to fail in finding a used, new or even rare book I was looking for, in their library. They've done a lot of work on their website database, and I found each of your requests there. I would also recommend book marking the place, because like I said, they've got a lot of books. The website url is : http://www.powells.com/ webadept-ga |
