Excluding EBAY, are there bookseller(s) or collector(s) who have the 1932 University of Pennsylvania student yearbook or Penn's 1931 football programs currently for sale and, if so, at what price? Please note that the University of Pennsylvania (aka "Penn") is **not** the same as Penn State. The University of Pennsylvania is a private university based in Philadelphia. Penn State is a state university based in University Park, PA. I am only interested in the University of Pennsylvania. |

If you're only interested in seeing (and photocopying) the yearbook, and you can get to Philadelphia, you may want to try Penn's library, which has a bunch of poor richard's records. I used to browse through the collection from time to time. They have a lot of other related publications in the same area (don't know where in the stacks it is, but you can easily find it by using franklin) like student directories, new student orientation, etc. I never looked for football specifically, so I don't know if foorball programs are there. Some years are not present in the stacks, so you might want to try the Penn archives - it's located in quite possibly the weirdest place - Franklin Field, on the side that faces the palestra (the north, i believe?). Check their hours. They have a better chance of having these things, but they're also much pickier with what you can do - probably won't allow you to make photocopies. Well, this isn't the most complete answer, and it doesn't answer your question, but hey, it's free! |

I already have photocopies from the yearbook, provided by Penn. I'm interested in a yearbook. It was my grandfather's graduating year and he was a starting runningback on the football team and had quite a few photos and articles in the yearbook. I live in Los Angeles, supporting a wife and 5 children ages 14 to 4, so getting to Philadelphia isn't going to happen in the near future. |

I've queried several bookstores in my area, as well as the local University library and my former high school yearbook advisor (having been a yearbook monkey years ago). The answers, unfortuantely, were all the same. If it is not available for purchase through the school, it likely is not available for purchase anywhere. My favorite bookstore manager suggested contacting the University Alumni Association to try to locate a copy for sale. The may publish a query for you in their Alumni newsletter, which might work out better than eagle-eyeing eBay or estate sales, as people who might have had access to the book would see it, as opposed to parties not affiliated with Penn. |

I paid $40 in the Penn alumni newsletter a couple of years ago and didn't get a single response. Today, however, I finally succeeded in purchasing the 1931 and 1932 yearbooks on EBAY. I was hoping that there was a collector who'd sell or trade the 1932 to me. I'm still interested in purchasing another copy of the 1932 yearbook (I'm a computer professional where we say "He who laughs last has a backup!") and am still interested in the 1931 football programs. |
