Would a link to listen to show via RealPlayer be acceptable?

Yes it would be acceptable as long as I would be able to hear that
particular show, ie not just a link to npr audiostream and than wait
for a rebroadcast or something like that:)

Hi, Mike!

After having interrogated every KISS fan I know, I've found a couple
of good options for you.

If you would like to download the interview in .wma format (Windows
Media Audio,) it's available in four chunks at kissfaq.com:

KISSFAQ.com: Gene Simmons NPR Interview 2/4/02, Part 1 (5:59 - 895Kb)
http://kissfaq.com/multimedia/audio/gene_npr_part1.wma

KISSFAQ.com: Gene Simmons NPR Interview 2/4/02, Part 2 (6:29 - 973Kb)
http://kissfaq.com/multimedia/audio/gene_npr_part2.wma

KISSFAQ.com: Gene Simmons NPR Interview 2/4/02, Part 3 (5:49 - 872Kb)
http://kissfaq.com/multimedia/audio/gene_npr_part3.wma

KISSFAQ.com: Gene Simmons NPR Interview 2/4/02, Part 4 (8:37 -
1,289Kb)
http://kissfaq.com/multimedia/audio/gene_npr_part4.wma

(To download, just right-click the link, select "Save Target As," and
choose a place on your drive in which to save the file.)

Another site has the entire interview as an mp3. It is a whopper, 24.6
megabytes, so this takes a while to download, even with broadband:

Randomfoo.net: Gene Simmons NPR Interview 2/4/02
http://randomfoo.net/junk/200202/npr/GeneSimmons_TerryGross_NPR_FreshAir_broadcast_02-04-2002.mp3

My search strategy involved email contact with several online friends
known to be KISS fanatics. There are times when search engines are no
substitute for a few well-placed emails, and fortunately I know a
bunch of folks who are stuck in the '80s and can probably recite the
lyrics to "Rock and Roll All Nite" in their sleep. ;-)

I hope this helps! If the links above give you problems, or if you
have any difficulty with your download, please send a clarification
request before rating my answer, and I'll be glad to offer further
assistance.

Best wishes for a happy New Year

Npr doesn't provide them in .mp3 format.

(they just re-ran this show yesterday, by the way).

well, I once took a voice mail message and 'played' it at a computer
that had a mic and MP3 encoding software on it ... and made an MP3 of
the voice mail.

In theory (since they just played it yesterday it is currently
available on the NPR website) you could play it on one computer and
record it on another, though that might not be legal, check with your
lawyer.

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but from the Fresh Air
website:
"[Simmons declined to give permission for this Web site to offer audio
of his interview, or sell tapes or transcripts of it.] "

A general request to people who are writing comments -- please think
BEFORE writing them. No offence but those comments make me think that
either their authors don't think much about other people's ability to
do anything. Comments is a great feature so please don't abuse it.

Hi mishka7-ga,

I'm sorry you found my comment offensive. It was not intended as such.
Unfortunately it's often difficult to know what resources customers
have already seen, used or have familiarity with. Also, sometimes a
researcher will post comments so that other researchers will know what
roads have already been tried. I'm glad Pink was able to find what you
needed :) Happy listening!

Hi luciaphile-ga:
Happy New Year. That's o.k. I guess I should have put in my question
something like obvoiuse research methods have being tried and specify
which ones otherwise I agree you have no idea from my questions what
my skills are and what if anything I've already tried :).
Thanks anyway.
Mike
