What are the top ten sports in the United States by revenue and

Hello.

Sports Business Daily reports that the top ten sports in the U.S. in
terms of attendance for 2001 (the most recent full-year figures
available) are as follows:

1. Baseball 123,832,494
2. Football 67,542,345
3. Basketball 65,228,016
4. Hockey 60,634,883
5. Auto Racing 35,843,628
6. Horse Racing 31,981,569
7. Rodeo 22,681,658
8. Golf 12,467,031
9. Soccer 7,482,702
10. Greyhound Racing 5,768,179

Figures for 1999-2000 were very similar but notice that tennis
previously occupied the #10 spot instead of greyhound racing:

Revenue rankings are harder to come by.

Paul Kagan Associates ranks the top five sports by total revenue
(1999):
1. NFL $ 4.119 billion
2. Major League Baseball $ 2.633 billion
3. NBA $ 2.656 billion
4. National Hockey League $ 1.528 billion
5. NASCAR $ 1.398 billion

site and Racing Resources:

Forbes has advertising revenues rankings by sport. Although
advertising revenues obviously do not constitute total revenues, the
figures are interesting nonetheless:
1. NFL $2.087 billion
2. Olympics $721 million
3. NBA $493 million
4. Major League Baseball $381 million
5. College Basketball $364 million
6. College Football $252 million
7. NASCAR $216 million
8. Golf $182 million
9. National Hockey League $94 million

search terms: rankings, "sports business daily", attendance, baseball,
football, "horse racing", revenues, billion, nba, nfl, nascar, nhl

I hope this answers your question. If more information is needed,
please request clarification. Thanks.
