Dear pnhellmann,

Thanks for your question. First, let me request that if any of the
following is unclear or if you require any further research – please
don’t hesitate to ask me for a clarification.

You requested a source for high-resolution images of flags – 300 dpi,
9” x 12”.

Here are several options, but please note that 9” x 12” does not
appear to be a standard size – typically, you will find 8” x 10”
(photo format) or 8.5” x 11” which fits standard A4 printer paper.
You can easily scale the images to 9” x 12” size if that is absolutely
the size you need without losing much in the way of noticeable
resolution.

First, you can purchase flag collections from Fotosearch. Their
images are 300 dpi 8”x10” and the collections are $239.95 each; they
are produced by Comstock.

http://www.fotosearch.com/viewcomp.asp?pp_sku=CSK176&image_name=KS8170.jpg

You can also purchase larger 300 dpi images, 8” x 12” for $209.95 each
– a bit pricey.

Stockbyte produces several collections of flags that are also 300dpi
and 8” x 12” –

http://www.fotosearch.com/viewcomp.asp?pp_sku=SBY067&image_name=13301fg1.jpg

These collections are $299.95, and each collection basically includes
all of one continent’s flags.

Eyewire’s collection of world flags is not complete; however, it does
include 98 300 dpi images that are 8.5” x 11” each and the collection
sells for $289.95 –

http://www.fotosearch.com/viewcomp.asp?pp_sku=EYW255&image_name=wfl_001.jpg

Finally, there is a collection from Imagesource that includes smaller
300 dpi images, but they are only 5” x 7”. This one collection does
include 325 images (sounds like most of the world’s flags) for $399 –

If you would like to sacrifice quality, you can access every single
flag from every nation in the world at –

http://fotw.vexillum.com/flags/index.html

The images here, however, are low res – about 3k for a 300x200 pixel
.gif (but they are free, although if you are seeking these for
commercial use you will have to negotiate for permissions).

I hope this response adequately addresses your request. Please let me
know if you are in need of additional information concerning this
query.

Thanks,

Paul -

The Punchstock images are flat -

Please let me know if these are adequate.

Paul -

Here are some additional high resolution flag sources -

http://www.geoatlas.com/downloads/world_vector_us.html

This is a less expensive 300 dpi version of the above -

http://www.geoatlas.com/downloads/world_bump_us.html

(but no samples of flags online)

The 300 dpi 6" flags from the following source come awfully close to
what you require -

http://www.imagesoft.net/flags/cd-rfree.html

They also have state flags, but they are smaller -

http://www.imagesoft.net/flags/us-rfree.html

Until Corbis comes back online (they're relocating to Seattle and for
some reason took their servers down...), there does not seem to be too
much else out there. I hope one of these additional sources will
suffice.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

thanks,
ragingacademic

They have vector art.

Very nice source, excellent place to find clip art!
But I'm not sure that they provide the resolution nor the image size
you were seeking; they do provide vector graphics (eps files), but so
do most all of the other sources we have visited.

I suggest you contact them prior to placing any orders.

The web sites I visited had this statment. Tired of flat, boring flag
icons. They said thier flags were "rippling in the wind".

Well I need flat, boring, tired, high res flag icons. these are for a
sign on the side of a truck.

Thank You, Paul.

Is this how I contact you ???

You seem to be having as much luck as I've had • NONE. I guess there
not out there.

Once again, I will be satisfied with 8" x 11" @ 300 DPI FLAT, Flags of
the world. Countries and States. U.S. of A. Military Flags.
