Greetings Bill666! In my research for your question, I found at the
website located at http://www.geocities.com/lord_visionary/the_dupont_bloodline.htm
strong hints that the religion of the du Pont family was Satanism and
the site also states that Anne, Pierre's mother, was a Huguenot.
However, the author does not cite sources. Here is a short quote from
the text there:

"The biographies of the du Pont family usually begin with the marriage
of Samuel du Pont to Anne Alexandrine Montechanin in 1737 in Paris,
France. Although Anne was a Huguenot, she was a medium with the spirit
world. Anne came from an ancient noble family that lived in Burgandy,
France. It is quite possible that it was Anne’s bloodline that gave
the Du ponts their occult power. Anne’s bloodline may possibly tie in
to the House of David. At any rate, Samuel and Anne’s son was the
first du Pont to rise to greatness, and the first du Pont that can be
connected directly to the Illuminati."

Although the information above answers your question, know that the
author did not cite his or her sources so the information can not be
readily verified. The article is lengthy and goes on to cite other
historical items about the du Pont bloodline, and you may find it a
very interesting read.

Wanting to supply you with a cited source, I searched again. I located
a paper at http://cepa.newschool.edu/het/schools/physioc.htm with the
topic "The Physiocrats". In the footnotes was a reference to a
Catholic site. The link was titled "Phyicrats [sic] at Catholic
Encyclopedia" and the link is
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12067a.htm but that was the only
religious reference and, politically, Pierre Samuel DuPont de Nemours
is considered a Physiocrat. This may mean he was Catholic but there
was no mention made of religion at either site.

The reason for the "-Thomas Jefferson" in the search strategy below is
because some of Jefferson's correspondence is posted on the Internet
and some was to du Pont though know religion hint was present in the
letters I located. So I minused Jefferson from additional searches.

Should you need clarification of any of the links I have provided,
please request it and I hope my research has answered you question.

CORRECTION: In my answer above, "though know religion hint was
present" should read "though no religion hint was present" meaning the
religion of du Pont.

Had I known from your question text that you had already exhausted
research on the Internet, I would have refrained from providing the
information I found. Not knowing this in advance, I answered the
question.

When using Google Answers, please note the "Request A Clarification"
feature that allows a customer to continue dialogue with a Researcher
if, at first, the Researcher doesn't seem to provide the information
you seek. Your question text didn't mention that you had already
executed the same searches so I had no way of knowing what you already
knew. If you wish to seek a refund for your question, please contact
the GA editors to remove this answer. If you choose to do that, I
would urge you to edit the information in your question for the next
Researcher - that way, the same thing won't happen again.

A safe and happy new Year to you!

I respect the honesty of the reply. However, I made exactly the same
search using Google and found the same answers which is "don't know".
I do not need Google Answers to do that. Google on its own is enough.
I use Google Answers to get through to people who are specially
knowledgeable about the subjct and can themselves provide answers.
