Dear Ian Harris,
There are several reasons why.
The first is, because we want to know. That's why I'm asking (and
searching for answers for others), that's why you're asking why (I
assume). To this, you could find the great scientific site, The Why
Site, helpful: http://whyfiles.org/
Another is entertainment. We all seek interest and entertainment in
our daily lives. That's why we ask why. You may be entertained (or
not) by people like me, starving for their daily bread, and willing to
make a clown of themselves, answering why.
Y is also the one-before-last letter in the English alphabet. This is
very sweet. It is like the fourth child in a family of five: almost
the smallest, but not really. It is rarely used in the English
language, but it nevertheless contains important words such as You.
You, the individual, is the reason why. You are the center, you decide
on the meaning, you fill it up. You decide why.
