Hello daucas-ga,
One interesting thing that I discovered is that Deutsche Angelgeräte
Manufaktur (D.A.M.) appears to still be alive and well in Germany.
They have an active website at http://www.dam.de/ (For a direct link
to the English language website:
http://www.dam.de/DAM00/eneinleitu2.html).
I wasnt able to find any sign of Quick Corporation of America. I did
find several references to D.A.M ORCA Distributors Inc. in British
Columbia, Canada as distributors of D.A.M. Quick Reels.
I found the following contact information:
ORCA Distributors
Juergen Bayer
1690 P Maple Street
Campbell River, BC V9W 3G2
1-877-370-3326
(604) 608-3325
info@damyl.com
http://www.damyl.com
(Information found at Sea-Ex Australia,
http://www.sea-ex.com/wholesaletackl/tackle.htm)
However, the toll free number is disconnected and the website is a
dead link, so Im guessing that they are not in business any more.
Regarding books, catalogs, manuals, etc. I had some luck.
The Cardinal Guy's Vintage Spinning Reel Information Site lists
several D. A. M. Quick Owners manuals available for download
(http://www.cardinalguy.com/Quickmain.htm).
Manuals for the following reels are listed:
110; 280 Finessa; 220; 330; 270; 440; 550
The Old Reel Collectors Association
(http://www.orcaonline.org/library.htm) lists the following documents
in their library:
#82 DAM-QUICK 101-202-303-404-505-(N) 19 PAGES
#162 DAM 1997 REELS ONLY 18 PAGES
#163 DAM 1998 REELS ONLY 5 PAGES
Guffster.com (http://www.guffster.com/qparts.htm) provides a parts
diagram for the D.A.M. Quick 700/800 Champion.
I wasnt able to identify any books on specifically on the subject of
D.A.M. Quick reels. I did find the following book that may be of value
to you:
Antique & Collectible Fishing Reels: Identification, Evaluation, and
Maintenance by Harold Jellison, Daniel B. Homel
Publisher: Forrest Park Pub; ISBN: 1879522136; 2nd edition (July 1,
1998)
I hope you have found this information helpful. Please request
clarification prior to rating the question if any of the information
that I have provided is not clear, or if you have any questions.
