I'm looking for a list of some good Charades topics including movies,
books and tv shows. I have done some research online myself and only
came up with an old board game, that has titles before 1982. This is
no good since I am 20. Here is a link to the board game I found:
http://www.surprise.com/frame/index.cfm?i=1614&c=17&d=11&f=13321
I am looking for more recent movies and tv shows, and books too(but
the books can be a bit older obviously). Also the only list I found at
all was 67 movies. I would prefer the list to be at least 150 but the
more the better. Here is the place I already found to give a general
idea of what I am looking for:
http://www.keepersoflists.org/index.php?lid=742
I would like something like this, but a bit longer and also including
tv shows and books too. Also if there is a more current board game
with recent titles I would love to know about it. Please email me if
you have any questions. Thanks for the help. |

Hi! I play charades too. I have not found a list that was better than
yours but I have a suggestion. Why don't we just get a big movie, book
and tv show list eventhough the website does not pertain to them as
charades topics? Would this be acceptable? Just a thought. :)

Yes, this would be ok. As long as it is a pretty long list and the
titles are more recent. For example, I dont want www.imdb.com, I know
its a giant database of movies, but it defeats my purpose. I want a
list, not a searchable database. I suppose it will be alright if
instead of "Charades" topics, its just topics. But I would like a good
size list for movies, tv shows and books.
My goal in the end is to take all the topics I have found and write a
script to randomly select a topic. Then each team will have to use
that as their word to give to the other team. Perhaps select a few
from the list, like 3 or 4 and then let them choose. (Just wanted to
give some insight on my final purpose)
Thanks for the help! Hope to get some great lists soon. Also the final
project will be posted on my website at some point, www.seankelley.org
in case anyone is interested. Thanks again.

How about lists that are arranged by decade? That way you'd get only
the more recent titles.
An example is here:
http://rinkworks.com/movies/i/1990s.shtml
The above is an alphabetized list of movies from the 1990s. The same
site has similar lists for other decades, of course.
If this sort of list would be suitable, I'd be glad to go on a quest
for books and TV shows listed by decade.

Hmm interesting, I hadn't thought of that approach. Maybe perhaps
expand movies back a little further, I can pick through some from the
1980s as well, cause there are plenty of later 1980s movies that I do
know.
But TV shows I think should be 1990s only. So a list similar to the
one previously found for tv shows would be fine.
As far as books, you can't really put a date on books, so if you could
find a decent sized list of popular books, that would be ok. Obviously
many popular well known books are older so it's ok if the books are
old. Just the tv shows and movies should be 1980s and after for tv
shows (like you found just with the 1980s included too) and tv shows
(1990 and later).
Thanks for the quick responses!
