HOW CAN I CREATE MY OWN WEB SITE WITHOUT PAYING

Request for Question Clarification by robertskelton-ga on 02 Jan 2003 05:55 PST
Would a subdomain with free webhosting qualify (ie
anothername.com/myname), or do you require your own dotcom (ie
myname.com)?

Do you need a service which makes website creation a piece-of-cake, or
are you willing to create a site on your own?

Dear zugwas,

It has become virtually impossible to get so-called top level domains
(like .com, .org., .net, .de) for free. However, I could give you
contact information for one of the few remaining providers of free top
level domains, if that is what you are looking for.
Alternatively, would you be interested in obtaining a free second
level domain in a format like www.yourdomain.us.tt or
www.yourdomain.de.vu? Please let me know.
Are there additional things you are looking for, like free webspace or
the like?

Regards,
Scriptor

Dear Zugwas,

Thank you for your question. Your question could be divided into two
parts. First of all, you stated your wish to have a homepage, or an
Internet site for free. Second, you have also asked on getting a
domain name. However, a "domain name" (the "name" of the site, like
"Google" or "Yahoo" is something different than having your own
web-site. You could have a site without having your own domain (which
is something that is normally paid for).

Several services, offer the opportunity to open a site and not paying
for it. They include GeoCities, Angelfire and Tripod.

These sites usually have also tools for site-building (if you don't
know how to plan and build a site) and they are financed by
advertisment.

There are several services that also offer the opportunity to register
a domain name for free, if this domain name is not already taken:
http://www.namezero.com/
http://www.v3.com/
http://www.yournamefree.com/

I hope that answered your question. Please contact me if you need any
clarifcations on the answer - I'd be pleased to provide some. I
searched the Internet for free domain and webpage providers.

Not sure where you can get a domain for yourself for free, but
subdomains are available all over the place - with free hosting.

And may places will sell you the domain registration for $8 to $15/yr,
much less than you want to pay for the answer to thhis question of how
to get around it!!!

Hello,
If it's the design and programming you are looking to get for free,
there are some keen student or fresh graduates looking to build a
portfolio, or alternatively some professional sources who may be
prepared to work for equity or a percentage of the profits if it is an
e-commerce website.
