Here is some information about the
AYURVEDIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION UK:
"The Ayurvedic Medical Association U.K. is the professional body for
qualified Ayurvedic practitioners who have completed five to six years
full time training in a University and a one year internship as an
Ayurvedic Doctor in Government hospitals in India and Sri Lanka.
There are about 25 to 30 qualified Ayurvedic Physicians in the U.K.
who are registered with the Ayurvedic Medical Association. Most of the
physicians are based in London but some of them are in areas which
have large Asian communities such as Leicester, Birmingham and
Bradford.
The treatment includes pulse diagnosis, dieting, yoga exercises,
meditation, Ayurvedic cleansing, massage and herbal remedies. In
addition through Ayurveda we can help those with chronic skin
complaints, arthritis and gynaecological problems. Stress could also
be helped well with Ayurveda.
We have started a part-time diploma course in Ayurveda from January
1998."

The British Complementary Medicine Associations  most frequently
asked question is how can I find a practitioner near me who is
qualified? As the largest (20,000 plus practitioner members) the
oldest(15 years) organisation representing therapists, we would  like
to help you find the answer.
So how to choose? Who is, And who is not qualified? The BCMA was
set up initially and specifically to bring together the disparate
groups and to encourage cohesion in order to form Lead Bodies (single
therapy regulating organisations).

The Complementary Medical Association's (CMA) primary aim is to
promote ethical, responsible, professional complementary medicine to
the public and the medical profession.
We believe that by promoting the CMA and it's members though the
media we are able to help the public and doctors to realise that
complementary medicine (CM) is - when delivered safely and ethically -
a viable and highly desirable form of treatment.
In addition, here at the CMA, we are totally dedicated to
representing "the professional face of complementary medicine" and by
promoting research, education and knowledge in the field, we will help
to stimulate demand for the medicine of the 21st century and beyond.
The CMA is great news for professional practitioners, ethical
colleges and patients who demand and expect excellence in every aspect
of treatment. The CMA is a not-for-profit organisation and we operate
entirely as a charity. A great part of our work consists of referring
public and conventional medics alike to CMA registered practitioners
so that they can be assured that treatment will be delivered by a
highly qualified, insured practitioner who adheres to a strict Code of
Ethics and disciplinary procedure. We call this the "CMA Referrals
Scheme".
