About two or three years ago I found a small hydroelectric dam for
sale on ebay. I believe it was located in Maryland, but could be in
Virginia, North or South Carolina. I would like contact info for that
dam, or any similar

Clarification of Question by stevenjones-ga on 03 Jan 2003 16:29 PST
To clarify- It was a small operation, and it is possible that I did
not see it on ebay but doing a property for sale seach on a MLS
real-estate site. I have busted butt trying to find it; I hope you
pros can do it for me! Thanks to all that have left comments!

Clarification of Question by stevenjones-ga on 06 Jan 2003 16:28 PST
Again, thanks to all that have left comments. i do wonder if a real
estate search, or Multiple Listing Service (MLS) history search, might
be more fruitful than looking searching for dams.

I am posting this as a comment, because I am not sure this is the dam
you are looking for. If it is, I will post this as the answer, so
please let me know. The dam was located in Maine, and sold in 2001.

According to the Real Estate Cyberspace Society,

"John M. Peckham III CCIM, CIPS, RECS, Peckham Boston Advisors,
Boston, Massachusetts, has announced the sale of the Benton Falls
hydroelectric dam. Located in Benton, Maine to a Swiss energy company.

The facility was built in 1987 at a reported cost of $10,000,000. The
dam is situated on the Sebasticook River, is a 40-foot high, 500-foot
long generation dam, with a 4.3 Megawatts of electricity per hour
capacity."

Thanks for your "dam" interesting question!

I don't think it's Maryland, but here is a link to all of Marylands
powerplants

This page is for Conowingo - a rather large one, an at the top there
are links top others, the only other Hyro powered one is at Deep Creek

Thanks for the comment nvwriter, but this dam was under 100,000
dollars, or in that neighborhood. It was more akin to an old mill,
with a pond that fed a few modern wheels and such, as opposed to a
major project of any type. It was for sale by an individual, not a
corporation. Agian, thanks...

A private land owner in Chester County, PA operates a very small
hydroelectic dam that generates a bit more electricity than his
household requires. Would you be interested in contact information?
