I have previously worked in landline telecommunications as a pbx
installation / programming engineer, but have not been in active
employment in this industry for several years. I am now considering
returning, but suspect that integration between the telecoms and data
networking areas has probably proceeded apace in my abscence.

I'm considering spending the greater part of 2003 consolidating,
updating and expanding my basic data networking skills and knowledge
which include basic DNS, IP etc. I'd like to follow a training course
leading to certification, such as an MCSE, which will complement my
existing telecoms skills and assist me in working on computer
telephony integration systems (CTI), in fact office / interoffice
telecoms in general, at the same time as increasing my employability
as a network installer / maintainer. I am considering using
http://www.urconnected.co.uk at their Manchester, UK facility as I
already know their main trainer personally and trust his
recommendation so far.

In this question, what I would like to know is: From the various
options offered by urconnected, can someone knowledgeable in the
current state of the communications / data networking industry suggest
course options that would fit with my needs, and provide reasoning, so
that I can make an informed descision when I meet with them later this
month? I am looking for specific recommendations regarding course
modules to take. I'm intending to eventually seek employment in the
UK.
