Well, I got admission in Concordia universits in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I confirmed my admission and applied for the visa and the CAQ (Quebec Acceptance Certificate). CAQ aplication is sent to Quebec Immigration. I posted the application in a registered mail from Berlin, Germany. But somehow the application didn't reach them. I sent the registered mail on the 25th on nov 2002. So I applied again by faxing them the application on the 30th of Dec 2002. I can't get the visa (study permit) till the CAQ is faxed to the embassy. Visa process takes three weeks and they haven't started the process cause they are waiting for the CAQ to arrive. Classes begin on the 6th of Jan 2003, and i have to be in Montreal by the 10th of January at the latest. But looking at the circumstances, it doesn't seem possible. If I don't make it my admission will be deferred to the next semester which starts in September. So now my question is, can you please tell me about universities which start there program in March/April or the summer semester, preferably in Europe or Canada or an English speaking area. Major concetration in International Business for Undergraduate Degree. The medium of instruction should be in English. Thanks |

It certainly is a most unfortunate situation to be in. The international student advisor at your school may be able to help expedite the issue of the CAQ by making a few phone calls. The CAQ can be issued in as quickly as two days (but don't quote me on that) if you're lucky. However, it does seem that it is a bit too late for that now. Universities in Canada operate on Fall/Winter basis, i.e. from September - December, and from January - April or May. The summer program is usually for continuing students only. As far as I know, I don't think you will find any program in Canada that will admit you for a full-time undergraduate program in the summer. But you may be able to take courses as a special student (possibly as a continuing education student) and transfer the credits to an undergraduate program. As for Europe, I believe most German schools admit students twice a year. However, German schools that offer degree programs in English are limited, and these schools may only admit students once a year. (check with the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - www.daad.de). |

...wirklich kein Glück hier... I'm living in Montreal and I just finish studying in a French-University (UQAM). However, I can tell you that all Montreal Universities offer Summer courses (normally beginning in May) and/or online courses. I invite you to visit the Concordia site for distance and online training to see if you can take a few courses from your curriculum: http://www-avd.concordia.ca/open/ (feel free to discuss with your advisor, maybe you'll be able to take some courses from Concordia, McGill, Ottawa or Toronto online and then have the equivalencies. I did one full-time Semester, but the beat was really hard to keep since it was on 7/8 weeks instead of 15. Good luck! Viel Spass! emmanuelle |
