Hi Gayle,

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools, "the recognized regional accrediting body in the eleven U.S.
Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana,
Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and
Virginia)"...

...terminated the accreditation of one (1) college in Georgia in 2002
(Morris Brown College, in Atlanta, Georgia), placed one (1) college on
probation for twelve months (Life University, Marietta, Georgia), and
placed two (2) on Warning (Interdenominational Theological Center,
Atlanta, Georgia and Savannah Technical College, Savannah, Georgia)
for twelve months. Below is an excerpt on asctions against the
specific colleges from the Commissions' Report, issued on 12/9/02:

During my research on the subject, I found that colleges and
universities rarely lose their accreditation. According to an article
published in October 2002 in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on the
problems faced by Morris Brown ...

"From January 1997 through December 2000, the six regional accrediting
agencies revoked the accreditation of three schools nationwide, out of
almost 2,900 accredited schools. All three -- Shorter College, a
historically black school in Arkansas; Sue Bennett College, a women's
institution in Kentucky; and West Coast University, a technical and
engineering school in California -- closed within months." The full
article is at...

I can.
