Hello,

I am looking for information regarding a pending lawsuit between 2
businesses in the UK. Is there an online public records search?

I've checked "Public Record Office Online Catalogue" and it doesn't
appear to carry recent information. The lawsuit will see it's first
court date February 12, 2003.

Ultimately, I am interested in knowing the nature and amount of the
dispute.

Dear dimbulb-ga
According to http://www.courtnews2.co.uk/courtlists/current/indexrcj.htm
only daily lists are published and even then it is only the parties
names that are mentioned. The circumstances of the case are not
outlined.
You may also wish to view http://www.courtservice.gov.uk/index.htm for
additional information.
Neither sites will contain the information you require. However, if
you would like to re-phrase the question and supply the names of the
two parties, I could research those and perhaps locate the information
you require from other sources.

To start with, you will need to know in which jurisdiction the case
will be heard. The courtservice.gov.uk websites mentioned by
answerfinder are for the English and Welsh courts. Scottish courts are
at www.scotcourts.gov.uk and the Rolls of Court for the Court of
Session are listed. Civil cases would be heard in the Sheriff Court or
the Court of Session.

Owain,

Thank you. Both corporations are in England, and I believe the case
is not a civil suit.

Cases can generally only be available in public domain once reported
at conclusion of case. You could try ringing the court involved to get
more information, but you would have to know which court it was. You
could try contacting the PR office of one of the companies involved.

If the companies are registered in the UK (as the first one you
mention undoubtedly will be) you can find their addresses by searching
at http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk between (I think) 7am and midnight
GMT.

Once you have their addresses you could try speculative telephone
calls to the County Courts and High Courts (depending on how large the
amount in dispute is) in those areas. When you phone, ask for
'Listing', and check the date you mention.

Icordia is indeed a British company, based in Uxbridge. One of its
products is: "The Icordia MindClick's CRM Solution provides Icordia
and their clients with powerful and essential customer management
tools. These encompass all aspects of the call centre operation... The
software provides system design, development and deployment services
using the MindClick Framework, data structure and fundamental business
process components.
http://www.icordia.co.uk/services.asp?sub=3

Mindclick is based both in Kirkland WA, USA, and in Windsor UK.
http://www.mindclick.com/company/contact.html Its products include:
"The Mindclick Framework(TM) Global Commerce Infrastructure and
Development Platform
The Framework represents years of thinking, and comprises more than
five million lines of code. Proven in high volume Internet commerce,
refined to provide distribution, fulfillment, call center, payment and
billing. The Framework provides the robust infrastructure required for
mission critical eBusiness process today, and a rapid application
development environment for tomorrow's opportunity."

I would guess that the lawsuit is about Icordia using a name that has
been registered as a trademark by Mindclick.

I have no further evidence about this, and no hard information about
the proceedings, so post it as a comment rather than an answer. If
you consider that the information I have provided suffices to be
posted as an answer, please indicate.

Actually, it might not just be about the name. Since both products
focus on call centres, there could perhaps also be an intellectual
property issue.
