Dear buckram,

Is it possible that the magazine you have in mind was a German
publication? There is a German magazine "GEO" with the subtitle "Das
neue Bild der Welt" - which translates exactly as "GEO - A New View of
The World" (an approximate equivalent of the American National
Geographic magazine.
If so, I have found a 1983 article that deals with the traditional
summer cricket matches of the British public schools. Could that be
what you are looking for?

Regards,
Scriptor

The GEO issue which I am seeking was definitely an English-language
edition. However, I believe that the publisher was German (Gruner &
Jahr, Hamburg and New York), and that the U.S. editor was H. J.
Kaplan. The article itself concerned the British "public" school
milieu and culture, not cricket matches.
