Hello,

I have a question in the field of telecommunications. We are a
software company that needs to implement a Q2/Q3 interface from our
software to general telecom network management software.

I am therefor looking for documentation on the Q2 and Q3 network
management protocol. Systems probably using this protocol are:
- Lucent telecom hardware
- Siemens Access Integrator
- Marconi eMOS software

What I am looking for is the following:
- (generic) documentation on the Q2/Q3 protocol
- software interfaces for this protocol

Thanks,

Erik

erik_r-ga,

Q2/Q3 is part of the TMN suite. I have a significant body of TMN
information, including relevant standards, which does apply to Q2/Q3
but does not treat it directly. I also have some sources for
components and examples in TMN, some free and some web-based. Would
this be sufficient?

The questions we would like to be answered are:
- how easy of difficult is it to implement a Q2/Q3 interface in our
software
- what is the electrical interface
- what is the protocol/software interface

Therefor what I would like from you is the following:
- links to relevant documents and standards explaining Q2/Q3 (both
electrical and protocol)
- links to software components that handle Q2/Q3 (including examples
would be great) and that we would be able to integrate into our
software
