When doing a search for "organic topaz", Google returns absolutely no
results. Would there be another name for the type of topaz?

Following on from tar heel v-ga, according to
http://www.bartleby.com/65/ge/gem.html

"Types of Gemstones - Precious and Semiprecious Gemstones: The
precious stones are ...Oriental topaz... The chief semiprecious
stones are.... topaz... The organic gems are pearl, amber, coral, and
jet; of these, pearl is usually counted as a precious stone."
Do you mean Oriental topaz?

Organic gemstones are those that originate from either plants or
animals. As answerfinder mentions above, these include pearls (from
shells), amber (from fossilized tree resin), Coral (from skeletons of
marine creatures), and jet (from fossilized wood).

Topaz is not organic. It is a crystalline mineral formed by volcanic
activity and pressure in the earth.

Some record-making Topaz include:

" ... a 600 pound specimen in Brazil... A rare, perfect blue gemstone
was discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in 1965. It weighed 100
kilograms. In Norway, a 137 pound crystal was found in 1901 that was
two feet long."

Is one of these the one you'd like to see pictures of?
