For no reason, my mom said "Later, skater waiter gator," and it rang a
bell as being from a children's book she used to read me. However, we
can't seem to remember which one it was.

What children's book is the quote (or similar) "Later, skater waiter
gator" in?

Can't find anything immediately - have you tried asking your mother?

Original message states that we (my parents and I) cannot remember
where this was from. I do remember, though, that the book couldn't be
more than 40 years old, and had lots of rhymes like that. I'm sure it
*was not* a Dr. Suess book.

I can find lots of "Later Skater" references searching on Google - but
only in the context of it being a sign-off for skater guys and gals
(as in "(see you) later, skater!"). But nothing in relation to a kids
book and no "waiter gator" either!
Sorry.

My immediate thought when I read this question was of Richard Scarry's books.

It turned out to be "Seals On Wheels"
