Hi there. I have been trying to find somewhere where I can purchase
Andy Warhol's 1963 6-hour long film "Sleep" but I have so far had no
luck. I would be grateful for any links to somewhere where i can buy
it online, preferably in the UK but other locations if necessary.

There is no answer at this time.

One of those questions that can drive you nutso, Rich. As far as I can
determine, the film has never been released for consumer purchase (for
rather obvious reasons. :-)). If you're interested in renting it as a
16mm film, it *may* (I couldn't verify it) be available through...

The Museum of Modern Art Circulating Film Library (16mm)
11 West 53 Street
New York, NY 10019
Phone 212-708-9530
Fax 212-708-0531

Unfortunately, MoMA recently updated their site, and whatever
information on the Circulating Film Library was there is now gone, so
I can't even verify that if they do offer "Sleep" as a rental, that
they would ship it outside of the U.S.

Fwiw, you might be interested in this CD I found at the Andy Warhol
Store, which is narrated by is John Giorno, poet and friend of Andy
Warhol, who was the star of "Sleep".

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Rich --

Rico's answer is correct. I just asked a close friend of
mine who has written a new book on Andy Warhol (due out
next year) if "Sleep" can be purchased and he said no.
But yes, you can either VIEW it at the Museum of Modern
Art or RENT it from them.
