I am currently working on your answer, but it would be very helpful
to know whether you reside in the United States.
If so, are you willing to travel all over the country, or do you want
to restrict your travel to a certain geographical area?
Also, are you interested in online auctions as well?

Hello, itsnimbus-ga

I have found a few comprehensive auction listing sites, and then
broken the rest down by individual states depending on available
information. I believe that once you get on a few auctioneer/estate
e-mail lists, you will begin to be deluged with listings! Are you
ready?

out of the process to make auctions thoroughly enjoyable for buyers or

are a great source for individuals, dealers, collectors, decorators,

I see you have put together a list of auction companies. I am looking
for a digest of all auctions and estate sales that are scheduled. The
list needs to be all 48 states. My particular interest is in Steuben
Glass. Can you refine your list?

Rod,

Your original question:

"I need to find out when and where estate and antique auctions are
coming up either by internet or subscribing to a news letter, paper,
magazine
or sometype of service"

...mentioned nothing about Steuben glass. I will certainly try to look
for that item, but you have now changed your question. I am not sure
that an auction or estate sale listing would be refined to the point
of always mentioning this one item.

Secondly, all of the companies I listed for you are auction companies
that have their auctions and estate sales listed on calenders on the
internet. Most have an online catalog or pictures of the items being
offered for sale, or a written description.

**** Did you look at the sites? ****

Most even offer to send a newsletter of their upcoming auctions and
estate sales.

Third.....although I will try to find a "digest" of all auctions and
estate sales, your original question asked for "internet sites,
newletters, paper, magazine or some type of service."

Now that you are asking specifically for a digest, you have also
narrowed your question down to a particular request that was not in
the original.

And finally, your original question did not mention that the "digest"
must include "all 48 states." Although I will also try to find
auctioneers in all of the states, I cannot assure you that every state
has such a list included in "a digest."

I am offering these comments as a suggestions for future questions,
so that answers can be provided in the most efficient manner. In this
way, you will receive the answer you are expecting, and the researcher
will not have to double their efforts.

You might have phrased your original question something like this...

"I am looking for a written digest of auctions and estate sales in
all fifty states. I am specifically interested in Steuben glass."

I will try to fulfill your additional request, but unless you are
looking for a newsletter specifically highlighting Steuben glass, I
believe you will have to pour through estate and auction sale
descriptions, whether on the internet or in a digest.

Hello, itsnimbus-ga,

I am so sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner. I had two days
worth of computer trouble that kept me from responding to any
questions.

It has proven difficult to find many comprehensive digests that cover
the entire country. Most are regional. However, the Maine Antiques
Digest, Antique Week, and Antiques and the Arts Online all have print
and online versions, and cover auctions/estate sales throughout the
United States. The Auction Guide is strictly an online grouping of
auction sites that cover all the different states.

Digests
**********
Antique Week
http://www.antiqueweek.com/ .
“AntiqueWeek has the largest paid circulation of any antiques and
collectibles newspaper in the United States.” Eastern, Central and
Western Editions.
“AntiqueWeek is the most widely read weekly publication covering the
antiques industry in the United States. The paper has been bringing
together sellers and buyers of antiques and collectibles since 1968.
AntiqueWeek is printed in two editions: the Central Edition covers the
Midwest, while the Eastern edition covers the Eastern Seaboard. The
recent launch of our monthly newspaper AntiqueWest offers quality
editorial and advertising specific to the California and West Coast
antiques market.”
(The website also has an online calendar. I tried a few random
searches in several states and came up with zero. Therefore, it is
probably best to subscribe the actual newsletter)
 Subscription and contact information

The Maine Antiques Digest
http://www.maineantiquedigest.com/
A comprehensive, nationwide auction calendar for 2003 is listed on
their site at: http://www.maineantiquedigest.com/other/shoauc.htm

Antiques and the Arts Online
http://antiquesandthearts.com/
“The nation's leading source of information on antiques and the arts.”
An excellent online calendar is available on their site at by
clicking on the “Calendar” tab on the left side of the homepage. (I
searched through some of the auction dates in January, and most
centered on the east coast and midwest)
You can also subscribe to a print version .

You can either select a category or view all auctions from their
homepage.

The Auction Hunter (one that I already gave you!)
http://www.auctionhunter.com/
 Search by categories:
 http://www.auctionhunter.com/categor.html
“Serving New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts,
Pennsylvania & Rhode Island.”
 (A search under “Antiques/Jewelry/Collectables” brought up 21
listings. A search under “Estate Sales” brought up 12 listings.)

You may also subscribe to have a print version mailed to you.

Glass Auctions
***************
JustGlass-Online
http://www.justglass-online.com/
Contains a listing of glass auctions around the country. From their
home page, click on “Enter”, and then on “Upcoming Shows and Events.”
http://www.mindspring.com/~reyne/News.html
Click on “Show listings” and you can access month-by-month listing of
glass auctions and sales around the country. However, I did not see
specific mention of Steuben glass in the listings. You will probably
have to call the particular organizers of the sales.

I hope these additional links help. One added suggestion you have
probably considered:
Have you tried Ebay for Steuben glass?
 http://listings.ebay.com/aw/plistings/list/category2205/index.html?from=R4.
A search I just conducted under Steuben glass in the search box
brought up two items.
