hi. i and my girlfriend are thinking about moving to canada after her
graduation. we are living in t urkey, and we are not sure whether
there
are job restrictions or extra qualification exams for doctors. in
fact, same applies to me. i am a management student.

to clarify the situation and make it easier for you to search, i would
like to tell you about our education system:

medicine: 6 years (assistant doctor) + 4 years branch education
(doctor)
management: 4 years

the main question is; what are the job restrictions to foreign
medicine and management graduates in canada? are there any extra
education or exams?

thank you.

Hi! I found information for restrictions to foreign medicine graduates
in Canada but not much for those with management degrees. Would this
be sufficient as answer? Just let me know. :)

Hi! Thanks for the question and for accepting my answer.

I was able to read different sources about Canadian employment for
foreign trained doctors and the consensus is that it would be one big
challenge.

The AIPSO (Association of International Physicians and Surgeons of
Ontario) is a very good online resource on how to find employment in
the medical field in Canada. It has this tip for you.

“Each province and territory has different requirements for getting a
license and each province has a different method of assessing,
orienting and/or training foreign-trained doctors. Most require that
graduates of foreign medical schools become Licentiates of the Medical
Council of Canada, have some training at a Canadian university, and
hold a Canadian certificate in Family Medicine or a specialty. Some
provinces have special licenses that will let you practice under
supervision or in under-serviced areas.”

“Getting a license can be a very frustrating and difficult process. We
recommend that you find other foreign-trained doctors in your area and
work together. The exams are very challenging and it can be very
isolating to work alone. We have all benefited from meeting other
foreign-doctors who have the same struggles and frustrations.
Immigrant organizations in your area may also be able to help by
providing support, space, or other resources. Also, for Canadian exam
preparation, the textbook "University of Toronto Notes: Practice Exam
Questions" is recommended.”

The good thing about the website is that it does not stop there and
actually gives the paths so as to penetrate the market in the
different Canadian provinces.

Our next stop is a list of necessary exams and trainings your
girlfriend has to undergo to be able to practice medicine in Canada.

In terms of management graduates, the Canadian International website
specifically states that they welcome such foreigners in the fields of
engineering and management.

“Canada welcomes talented individuals from around the world with
experience in fields such as engineering, management, technical and
skilled trades.”
