Here are the companies and analysts tracking manufacturing process
technologies or manufacturing software. Where possible I've indicated
contact e-mail addresses.
In my experience in working with most of these companies, if the
analyst that you contact believes there are others who either share
their interest in a product/technology or who are more specialized,
they'll draw them into a meeting or telephone conversation.
AMR

Boston, MA 02109-4925

Fax: (617) 542-5670

Be aware that there's also a German firm, AMR Research Gmbh, which is
unrelated at http://www.amr-research.com
AMR (the U.S.-based company) has a manufacturing industry service,
where Roddy Martin, the service director, is located. This web page
lists all of those involved in the service:

Each of the analysts has a biography linked to their name on the
company directory, giving you a chance to see what they do and what
their experience is. Here's just one example of one of the
manufacturing analysts:
Mike Prescott, senior client research manager, in this group has a
biography on the company's website. I couldn't find any e-mail
addresses for analysts:

service may also be helpful:

This is the one research company that wasn't in my list of market
research companies, though I've added it now! They have research in
the plant software and automation & control areas but their services
are broken down by industry group (electronics, machinery, chemical,
pulp & paper).
Here are some ARC people who have recently appeared in the press with
articles or comments about manufacturing issues. The article are

Gartner/Dataquest

Both Gartner Group and IDC are broad-based research companies with the
resources to cover business by technologies and industries, making it
difficult sometimes to get to the right person. It is especially
important with these 2 companies to network your way to other analysts
with interests in your area.
I've assumed that analysts covering data on semiconductor
manufacturing ARE NOT what you'd be seeking, relying instead on those
covering manufacturing technology and software. Here's a list of
those analysts:
Laurie Balch, senior analyst
Daniel Stang, research analyst
Marc Halpern, analyst
Geraldine Cruz, senior analyst
Kenneth Brant, research director
Gartner Group has an excellent search function. I used the term
"manufacturing" to find relevant articles, then triaged them to find
analysts covering the areas desired. Clicking on analysts' bylines in
the research links brings up a biography for each, as well as a list
of recent publications.
Relatively little of the company's research is available online but
their archive of press releases gives you a chance to identify
analysts working in areas that you may find attractive:

IDC
5 Speen Street
Framingham, MA 01701 USA
(508)872-8200
http://www.idc.com
International Data Corp. (IDC) is the research arm of a diversified IT
information company, IDG. Make sure that you get to the idc.com pages
because they have a very effective search capability, where the search
capability on the corporate pages are weak (to be polite).
Like Gartner Group, IDC doesn't really have a manufacturing focus.
This is a list of the analyst teams:
IDC
"Analyst Teams"
http://www.idc.com/en_US/templates/viewAnalystTeams.jhtml
But you can use the term "manufacturing" to see what work has been
done recently in the area. This turns up these analysts as being the
best to contact; each analyst has a brief biography hot-linked to
their name:
Jennifer Thomson, senior research analyst, European vertical markets
Gisela Wilson, director Product Life-Cycle Management Systems
Tim Grieser, program vice-president, Enterprise Systems
Katrina Menzigian, director Business Process Outsourcing
Meredith Whalen, vice-president, Vertical Markets research program
IDC doesn't publish analysts' e-mail addresses but generally follows
the format of first initial plus last name @idc.com, so if George Bush
worked at IDC his e-mail address would be:
gbush@idc.com

Meta Group
208 Harbor Drive
PO Box 120061
Stamford, CT 06912-0061
(800) 945-META
(203) 973-6700
http://www.metagroup.com/
Meta Group's service areas are detailed here:
Meta Group
"Products and Services"
http://www.metagroup.com/products/products.htm#ADVISORY
The following analysts have written about manufacturing topics.
Generally Meta Group e-mail addresses use the following convention:
firstname.lastname@metagroup.com
Barry Wilderman, enterprise resource management
Al Passori, medical device manufacturing
Carl Lehmann, supplier resource management
Enrico Camerinelli, automotive manufacturing
=============
That covers the companies that you requested. Here's a list of other
analysts that deal research. Of the 38 on the list that I keep, only
these have any coverage of manufacturing-related topics. Where
there's someone doing manufacturing software, I've tried to indicate
who they are:
Aberdeen Group
260 Franklin Street, Suite 1700
Boston, MA 02110
617-723-7890
http://www.aberdeen.com/
Aberdeen Group is very similar to Meta and Forrester. Having worked
with them, I find Aberdeen analysts extremely helpful. Their service
areas are highlighted here and you're probably most-interested in
Supply Chain Management:

management; you'll find his e-mail address and contact information on
