Hi there,

Thanks for coming back to me. To give you a better backgrounder I work
for a technology development company that produce database software
specifically for process industries, it would typically be installed
say for example in a Wyeth manufacturing plant. Analysts are a key
audience for us. I have identified most important analyst groups to be
the ones mentioned below. Each of these companies have hundreds of
analysts, Gartner for example has 1200. The guys we need to target are
those who map technology trends for manufacturing, provide technology
assessments and some even analyze technology vendors. I am interested
in analysts that produce research for the US and Europe only. Does
this clarify things better? To answer your next question, as soon as
really. What kinda timeframe are you looking at? Thanks again.

I'm very familiar with the market analysts you mentioned -- and yes
IDC and Gartner are huge.  The list of analysts that I keep has about
60 companies in three areas that would have manufacturing people:
*  computers
*  telecommunications
*  semiconductors

It's probably a 4-5 hour task to get a list assembled but that assumes
no interruptions.

see if I can add any others.  The list of most-likely firms is about
38: 20 computer analysts; 10 semiconductor; 8 telecommunications.

It's looking as if there will be a couple of people from each company:
an analyst specializing in manufacturing and one in manufacturing
software.

Both Gartner Group and IDC are broad-based research companies with the
resources to cover business by technologies and industries, making it
difficult sometimes to get to the right person.  It is especially
important with these 2 companies to network your way to other analysts
with interests in your area.

I've assumed that analysts covering data on semiconductor
manufacturing ARE NOT what you'd be seeking, relying instead on those
covering manufacturing technology and software.  Here's a list of

information company, IDG.  Make sure that you get to the idc.com pages
because they have a very effective search capability, where the search
capability on the corporate pages are weak (to be polite).

Like Gartner Group, IDC doesn't really have a manufacturing focus.
