Is there a way or a service that will allow a caller from outside an
area served by a 1-800 number to call that number. For example I would
like to be able to call from area code 606 to a 1-800 number in area
code 902 however their service range does not include the US. They do
not have another direct line ringing into the same answering service
as the 1-800 line. The number that I am trying to reach is for a radio
call in show (with recorded messages) so using other methods of
contact are not an option.

I am not sure about the options within the US, but from outside the
US, I have in the past been able to call an international operator and
have the connect my call, I was billed a normal international call
rate, so I assume they either connected me to the base number that the
1-888 number diverted to, or trunked my call to within the region it
was accessible from.

Perhaps your could try your local operator and see if they can help.

Thank you sycophant-ga for your request for clarrification. I tried
your suggestion and did not have any success with the operator. The
challenge remains! uzzz

I suggest you go to the radio show's web site and see if another
number (or the information) is listed there.

Otherwise, have a friend who can reach the show through that number do
a three-way call.

Thanks for the comment mynn. I already checked the show's website and
there is no other access to the recording machine. The three way call
is an idea that would work if you had a friend in the area served.

All 1-800, 1-888, and 1-877 phone numbers just roll over to another
phone number that is a local number in that aria. I have an 800
number and a 877 number that you can call directly to there
corresponding phone numbers that just happen to be in the 330 aria
code.

What is the radio station and phone number you are trying to call?

I've had some success calling 1-800 numbers using Internet telephony
services for free. Maybe you should try them.
