Good Day mcgann-ga,
Submitting to Google directly is impossible; however, most of the
listings on Google are taken from the ODP, Netscape Open Directory
Project, found at dmoz.org.

If you follow the above link, you will find a link to
http://dmoz.org/add.html which has instructions on getting listed at
dmoz.org. Once you are listed there, Google will spawn your web site
from there, into its own directory.
It is important that you read over the instructions at
http://dmoz.org/add.html as it lists some of the things which can keep
you from getting listed. To aid you, I have looked over your web site
and it looks as:
- You are not yet listed at dmoz.org
- Your web site does not appear to be in violation of any of the
listed Donts.
Once you are listed at dmoz.org, the help file at
http://dmoz.org/add.html explains that:
"If your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take
anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on
partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search,
DirectHit, HotBot, Google, Lycos, Netscape Search, etc. We make
updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own
update schedule."
As a freelance researcher for Google Answers I do not have a schedule
as to how often Google updates their directory using the dmoz.org
index. However, from personal experience, most of my sites listed on
dmoz.org appeared in Google after about a couple of weeks.
This system helps cut down on maintenance for the search engines by
ensuring that the partner search engines don't have to individually
validate each addition to their directory. In turn, this results in a
more user friendly system were the user does not have to make as many
submissions, and the turn around time on the listing is faster.
Should you require more detail on any part of my answer, or require
other information not mentioned at all, please ask for a clarification
before rating my answer.
Thank you for your question.
Regards,
