Dear ilana-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

Your question brings to mind one of the most famous
prisoner-physicians, Dr. Miklos Nyiszli, who was assigned to assist
Josef Mengele, the chief provider for the gas chambers, in performing
autopsies on his fellow prisoners in Auschwitz. Nyiszli survived his
time in the camp and went on to write extensively his dilemmas in a
book entitled, “Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account”. You can
read excerpts from the book here:

“Dr. Miklos Nyiszli - an eyewitness from Auschwitz”
http://www.auschwitz.dk/Nyiszli.htm
(WARNING: Dr. Nyiszli’s book is not for the squeamish. His accounts
are so horrific and disturbing in fact that I cannot, in the name of
good taste, recreate them for you in this forum.)

A Jewish Pediatrician, Dr. Adina Blady Szwajger, who aided victims in
the Warsaw Ghetto, was forced to deny her religion in order to help
the sick and injured. By passing her self off as a Christian she was
able to move freely and treat those in need. In time, though
starvation and disease were rampant, she saw an opportunity to study
its effects and compile a scientific journal on her findings. More can
be found on this heroic physician by following my search strategy
below.

Whether you agree with this statement or not, this site recounts this
supposedly true event that occurred during World War II:
(taken from: SITUATIONAL ETHICS
http://gospel-herald.com/genesis_studies/situational_ethics.htm)

“A Romanian Jewish doctor aborted 3000 babies of Jewish mothers in
concentration camps because, if pregnant, the mothers were to be
incinerated. This means that the doctor actually saved 3000 and
prevented the murder of 6000. This was the loving thing to do.”

This account describes how a young Jewish Physician, Georges Livchitz,
twice captured and sent to war-time prison, wrestled with his desire
to help and his need to resist. Among other things, he engineered a
resistance group and captured a deportation train freeing about 230 or
the 1600 prisoners onboard. Though he was trained to heal the infirm,
he conditioned and taught himself to kill when necessary and is
celebrated as a Jewish war hero.

Much can be found about celebrated hero Dr. Yanush Korczak, an
educator and Polish Jew who ran the Warsaw orphanage. He was given the
opportunity to leave the children behind in order to save his own life
but chose instead to accompany them to their deaths in the prison
camps as a means of providing them with comfort and care until the
last possible moment.

Dear Ilana-ga:

I failed to locate anyone by the names you mentioned. Are these names
the name of one person or the last names of several people?

Also, you neglected to mention what, specifically, about my answer did
not satisfy your question. You asked "Prisoner-doctors in Nazi
concentraton camps ; decisions and dilemmas." My answer provided
exactly that information. Is there more that you require that I have
not provided?

The forum's pricing guide may help you to determine what your future
expectations are with regard to this question and the price you have
selected for it.
