Hi!

Need to buy a weird wedding present for the couple who has everything.
They are in their 30s. No kids yet. They are nutty and so I am.
Hence, a normal gift would actually be insulting.

My first idea was a Slurpee machine which could be adapted to make
margaritas.
But they're too expensive. My budget is $150-$350.

Any and all comments appreciated---the crazier, the better.

Thx.

Greetings Ron! Thank you for requesting my suggestions as your
answer. I have to admit I would revel in an Archie McPhee gift basket
or the gift of a spare brain...

COMMENTS REPOSTED AS ANSWER, PER YOUR REQUEST:

Well, a gift basket from Archie McPhee is always a welcomed addition
to any household. http://www.mcphee.com/ Nothing like having a Jesus
action figure on hand for those tough-to-answer prayers. Also, when
their marital problems begin, they can consult their very own Freud -

I also located:

The Think Tank "Ever need an extra brain?" - $225
http://www.wonderfullywackie.com/thinktank.htm

The Snowing Machine - $200
http://www.wonderfullywackie.com/snowingmachine.htm

Set of giant martini (or margarita) glasses - $30 each

Hand Chair - $150

More goofy gifts at http://www.wonderfullywackie.com

Indoor Fountain $278 31" high

Neon Sculpture, Neon Posters - various prices

PS I continued to look and found a reference to a remote-controlled
lizard which I thought was way too cool but I could not locate one
anywhere for purchase. :(

You always ask such interesting questions, Ron, and it's a pleasure to
be of service to your research needs. I hope the dog boarding
suggestions on the earlier question I answered for you turn out to be
beneficial for your friends' business. Please keep me posted on that
one!

Top-notch ideas from everyone. Thank you.

Separately, journalist, the dog boading is going well.
They bought the book you recommended, and are
now building the kennel and runs.

Could be doggone big! Thanks again. ron

Nronron --

One of our favorites has always been a case of wine -- it's thoughtful
and can be enjoyed over a series of anniversaries. If you know know
what year they started seeing each other, perhaps you can match
vintages to those years.

Best regards,

To me there's nothing better for the couple who has everything to give
a gift on behalf of those who have nothing.

And nothing says caring (and wackiness) like the gift of a Water
Buffalo. Wacky? Yeah, on first glance. But in the end certainly no
waste of money ---

HEIFER INTERNATIONAL - BUFFALO

And for good measure, why don't you throw in a goat --

HEIFER INTERNATIONAL - GOAT
http://catalog.heifer.org/goat.cfm

Or a flock o' delightful ducks

HEIFER INTERNATIONAL - DUCKS
http://catalog.heifer.org/ducks.cfm

Go for it!

I just realized I neglected to post my search strategy. The phrases I used were:

Archie McPhee
unique gifts
bizarre gifts
weird gifts
strange gifts
wacky gifts
fountains
neon posters
neon sculptures

A pair of "Klein Steins" would be an attractive, useful, yet slightly
wacky gift:

http://www.kleinbottle.com/drinking_mug_klein_bottle.htm

The Klein bottle is a variant of the Möbius strip; it appears to have
an inside and an outside, like a normal three-dimensional object, yet
closer investigation reveals that, technically, its inside and its
outside are all one surface.

This might be an interesting metaphor for marriage: what appears to be
two is, in a sense, one.

A standard for my about to be married friends is a kaleidoscope,
custom made to match, and incorporate the wedding invitation.

Buy a bowling ball, a heavy screw eye, some heavy chain, and a big
lock operated by a key, and construct a ball and chain with it.
Present it to the groom sans the key. Separately and confidentially,
present the key to the bride.
