Question ID: 139634
I need help with writing a VBScript that will add an icon to users
desktop. I have almost all the code I need for this script. I have
the code written that adds an icon to the users desktop for MSAccess
but I need for it to be more specific. I need for the script to
launch MSAccess and also launch a specific database. The path to the
database is pretty long and needs to be very specific. Here is an
example of the icons path: "c:\program files\microsoft
office\office\msaccess.exe" "d:\shared\attendance\master.mdb"/wrkgrp
"d:\shared\attendance\SL_master.mdw". I can only get it to run upto
the "c:\program files\microsoft office\office\msaccess.exe" part.
Please help!

Just so I'm sure what you need, is the problem that you can't get the
created shortcut to run with those parameters specified?

Or do you want the script to run Access just as the shortcut would,
after it creates the shortcut?

Thanks,

I wanted the script to run Access just as the shortcut would, after it
creates the shortcut. However, I was able to find another resolution
to this problem. If I create a shortcut to the database in the shared
drive. I can have the script run to point to that new shortcut on the
shared drive and that in turn will create the shortcut on the users
desktop. PROBLEM RESOLVED.

(I do not know the answer, this is just a thought :)

Isn't this a security issue? I always had the impression
VB and Java scripts cannot spawn/execute commands on user's computer...
What if it unintentionally executes something malicious?
I could be wrong.
