Hello,

You asked who the leading distributors for watches for the U.S. market
are.

The leaders of this 6.3 billion dollar market are Timex, Bulova,
Swatch, Fossil and Movado.

Timex is over one hundred and fifty years old and they sell the most
watches in the United States today. Interestingly, Timex invented
Indiglo. You can check them out at their site: www.timex.com.

Bulova are another old company, who have been handling the high end
market in the U.S. Their watches are often given as gifts of state.
Timepieces from this all American owned company can be found in such
ritsy locales as Air Force One. You can find out more about them at
their site: www.bulova.com

Swatch is a hungry new comer, compared to Timex and Bulova. They are,
of course, a Swiss company. The Swiss enjoy a reputation for fine
watches, which could be why this relative Johnny-Come-Lately to the
watch market is now the largest watch company in the world. More on
them can be found at: www.swatch.com

Fossil is Texas based company, who pulled in half a billion in net
earnings in 2001. They make three hundred types of watches and have
focussed on accessories in their marketing since their beginnings.
More on them can be found at www.fossil.com.

Movado is another newer, but high end company. These guys spend 60
million a year in advertizing alone! Their gross profit was 200
million last year. Their site can be found at: www.movado.com

You can purchase a full report on the U.S. Watch Market at
www.findmarketresearch.com, but you may find the price prohibative.
It does promise to include detailed information on all the big
contenders in the market and their strategies for the next year, as
well as sales trends and economic projections. The price for the full
report is $1,375.00 (U.S.), but you can buy chapters specifically
relating to your needs for thrift's sake.

I hope this helps answer your question. Good luck.

Leslie
