There is a movie called "Gift" that is a bit obscure. It is kind of a
Jane's Addiciton Documentary. There is a poster in the background in
one scene that says something like "This Rock and Roll Will Never Die;
This Rock and Roll Can Kill You." It is a large poster, laid out
landscape style. Any ideas where I can find it?

stacy -

honestly you probably won't find someone here that can answer this...i
did a bit of searching and it's not likely to be found "directly" on
the internet.

I'd suggest seeking out some hardcore Jane's Addiction fans, there are
plenty of websites. Or one of the yahoogroups.

Good luck!

As a huge fan of Jane's Addiction and an owner of this wonderful
movie, I tried to find one for you, but the only thing out there is
the very hard to find movie itself.
You might try a Yahoo Group as bootsy suggested, or go to a local
record store. Not a "mega-records" type store, but a small local
record store. They are going to be the best bet, if they don't have
it, they can probebly locate one and order it for you. Good Luck!

Closest I've found so far is a discussion thread in a Jane's Addiction
fan forum at http://one-percent.com dated last August. This was found
via Google, by the way.

http://one-percent.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1732

The poster asks:
"OK, There is a scene in Gift where Perry is standing in front of a
closet. In the background is a fuzzy poster that looks like its
possibly from a live Jane's show. At the bottom it reads: This rock
and roll will live for ever" and on the the other side it says,"This
Rock and Roll will kill you!" Does anyone know anything about this
thing?"

There are two replies to the query which make the answer somewhat
unclear. One person responds:
"it says, 'this rock n roll never dies, this rock n roll will kill
you'. and that poster was all over LA back then. i am pretty sure it
was a promotion against drug use, and seems to feature perry's photo."

But then a second person replies:
"Actually Perry and Casey made that poster. they added the picture of
perry in there, it wasn't some kind of circulated poster."

So it appears that the poster you saw in "Gift" was an anti-drug
poster taken off the streets of LA and modified somewhat before being
hung on the wall for that scene. I've been trying to find an image of
the original anti-drug poster and stills from the movie to see if they
correlate. It seems even the die-hard Jane's fans haven't been able
to find it over the last decade, which kind of also backs up the
made-up theory.

I haven't posted this as an official answer because it's becoming
apparent there *is* no answer to this one. Sorry. Some other
Researcher can scoop up the $3.75 if they want and claim the poster
doesn't exist and that's your answer, you have to be the judge of
that. I don't really want to do that to you.
