In Microsoft Outlook, in the preview pane/inbox, I wish to change the
display configuration. Instead of having the list of new messages on
top and the preview of the selected message underneath, I wish to have
these two things side-by-side. (I don't display the folders list). I
did this before in Outlook Express, but I can't figure out how to in
Outlook 2002.

Hello,

Yes, you can do this in Outlook Express, but it is as of yet
impossible in outlook 2002. However, Microsoft will make this a
feature of the new version of Outlook (codename Outlook 11). Read the
following interesting article:
http://news.com.com/2100-1001-964166.html about the new features.

Here the bit that will interest you:

"In this first test version, Outlook has undergone a significant
makeover. Microsoft has revamped the interface, removing, for example,
the left-hand Outlook Bar that has been part of the product for about
seven years. In a potentially more dramatic change, Microsoft has
moved the preview pane from the bottom of the page to the right-hand
side, though people do have the option of returning it to the former
position."

So it looks like you'll need to be patient and get the upgrade, or
switch back to Outlook Express for now.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
