I have a bronze statue of a young man or boy playing a violin, looks to be in a market place or side walk possibabily in France. It is approximatly 19" tall and is signed Efole Ferrata. Can you give me any help as to who the artist is. I also know about an artist Ferrata during the 1600's - not this one,I'm sure. It is definatly signed EFOLE FERRATA. The piece looks to be from around the early 1900's. Thanks |

Hello pkskiing-ga! I searched for you a bit but only found one Ercole Ferrata, a sculptor who worked in bronze, born in 1610. You'd mentioned this may not be the Ferrata you're looking for. The names are eerily similar and both worked with bronze and were sculptors. Is there any chance this may be the same person? I found a few links that may prove helpful but nothing definitive about the statue you own. If you think this might be the artist you're looking for, I'd be happy to do more intensive research for you. Here are a few links I uncovered about Ercole: Ercole Ferrata Online http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/ferrata_ercole.html Ercole Ferrata on artnet http://www.artnet.com/library/02/0280/T028034.asp I hope this helps narrow down whether there is any chance this could be the person we're seeking. Thank you! Filian |
