Hi, Cindy ...

I can understand your wanting to locate your birth mother. Thousands
of adoptees all over the world have been in the same position.
Sometimes their searches have been successful.

Please understand that Google Answer Researchers cannot give you
personal information on anyone; however you asked "[i]s there a place
on the web I can go to find her?", and I can supply you with that
information.

Often adoptees and their birth families are reunited using the
services of reunion registries.

One of the most successful reunion registries is the International
Soundex Reunion Registry (ISRR). This is one of the very first places
you should register your information as the adoptee.

Their Website is located at:
http://www.isrr.net/

Their service requires you to register by mail (for your protection),
but the registration form is downloadable. ISRR has been very
effective in reuniting kin-by-birth; their reputation is beyond
reproach, and their discretion is unquestionable.

Please remember, even though you may be trying to locate your birth
mother, there could be reasons she doesn't want to be found, in which
case your search may be harder.

There are other registries, which also have links to information and
state and local help in reuniting birth mother and adoptee.

A site with links to other reputable reunion registries is Wildfyre's,
at:
http://www.wildfyre-registries.com/

The above all are members of an organization called Coalition for
Adoption Registry Ethics (C.A.R.E.), at
http://plumsite.com/care/

C.A.R.E. is another excellent site with information on adoptee/birth
kin reunion information.

In addition to the above, I would also recommend looking at the
Adoption Registry site. It could be that your birth mother has
registered and is looking for you, and they have an excellent
searchable database. Their site is at:
http://www.adoptionregistry.com/

Finally, there is the Adoption Reunion Registry, which is a
"self-directed search and reunion" registry. Their website is at:
http://www.adoptionreunion.net/what.htm

The search terms I used were:
adoption registries
adoption reunion
reunion registries

There are other registries, but I personally know people who have
registered and been reunited through the above that I have
specifically mentioned. And they all vouch for the ethics of those
registries.

I would again caution that they are successful if both parties want to
be found and if both parties register. Sometimes it doesn't work that
way, but at least there is information to help you with your search -
including useful links to other methods if your birth mother isn't
registered with one of the reunion registries.

Good luck, and I wish you success.

Remember, she might not have the same name at this time because of
marriage. Good luck!
