What software is available, and of what quality (reviews, specs at least) that is specifically designed to run an online job bank? I manage a professional association and we are looking for job bank software. The software would need to allow seekers to fill out a tiny background survey and post their resume (msword or pdf file) and businesses to fill out a tiney background survey and post their job listing (msword or pdf file). It must be able to be monitored by a moderator who can remove or revise listings. It must be searchable by key components (state, degree, qualifications). Ideally, it would have a function that allowed candidates and posters to connect with one another. We are seeking only software that is specifically designed for this purpose and that allows for free use. We do not want to use a service that incorporates advertisements or requires extensive registration. We do NOT want to generate revenue from this service. | |

Hi. Thanks very much for the question. Job bank software exists in two forms. One form can be installed in your systems while in the other; the software resides in the servers of the manufacturer. The software products and services from Career Cast answers the requirements you mentioned above and has a more comprehensive explanation of its product features. They also have in their website a list of their clients so it can be inferred that they are very knowledgeable in this field. The website however does not publish the specs of its software or any software partners. For more on Career Cast the following web pages will be of great help. The Career Cast Home Page http://www.careercast.com/ Career Cast Products and Services http://www.careercast.com/services.html Career Cast clients http://www.careercast.com/client.html Another software package worth looking into is Job Manager 2.0 (http://www.iworldinteractive.net/jobmanager/). I like their website better than Career Casts since it has information to their technical specifications (http://www.iworld.com.sg/jobmanager/00-architecture.php3) and also showcases their software vendor partners (http://www.iworld.com.sg/jobmanager/00-partners.php3). SearchEase (http://www.jobboardsoftware.com/?source=overture) also provides out of the box and customized solutions regarding job bank software. It uses Microsoft centric products for its software. LANS Unlimited (http://www.lansunlimited.com/default.asp) offers a job bank software for $99. You can buy the software and download it directly from their web site. Jobs Manager (http://www2.interactivetools.com/products/jobmanager/) also sells for $99. It boasts of quick and easy installation plus a user-friendly interface. All of the software mentioned above must be installed into your server. When the software and database resides in the manufacturers servers there is of course an issue regarding security. Furthermore, it seems that compared to the two software makers mentioned above, the functionalities seemed pretty limited as well. The Ron Joblink software (http://www.recruitersonline.com/about_tools.html) functions this way. All you do is cut and paste a few html commands (much like what you do for sample java and cgi scripts). I dont recommend looking at the media reviews posted on the company websites mentioned above since it is bias of course. But maybe a better alternative is to try the demo or the website of their clients and see first hand how the software works. Search Terms Used online job software Hope this would be of assistance to you. Good luck on your job and future searches. Regards, Easterangel-ga |

rated this answer:![]() Found resources that I hadn't identified (FANTASTIC!) - but most didn't meet the specifications of the question (had to be able to upload msword or pdf files of resumes/job listings rather than create them through the software) |

This is not meant to be a comprehensive answer, but for software to manage resumes/etc, I would check out Personic.com. Good software, good people. Worth a cruise by their site. Good luck with your search. |

I believe ASP (active server pages) software is the product to best serve your comprehensive database needs. If your in-house techs are not familiar with ASP, send them to http://www.asp101.com/ or search for web developers in your area http://www.webdeveloperdirectory.com/ or try a firm such as http://www.wcc.nl/ (garnered from Google search ://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&q=online+database+software). Online database software is all you require and, because there are many from which to choose, you may find it more cost-effective to allow an outside firm to handle the building of the database. |

We have developed our own databases for online use before - we do NOT want to do that for this project. We want an out-of-the-box solution. We don't want to work with a developer (we have development capabilities in-house even). We want a proven product that will upload and attach files to searchable forms that is pre-designed for this purpose - ideally pre-designed specifically to be a job bank. Frankly, we're tired of the constant maintenance and tweaking involved with newly developed programs and want something that works consistently, ideally has regular upgrades, and has functionality that has been proven appropriate for a job bank. Thanks for thinking of it though. |
