Please, i would like to know how to number pages in Word 2000...i need to know how to have page numbers start on a page that is not the 'first page'(i have a title page, a table of contents page, and credits page, all of which are NOT to be page-numbered) so page four will be numbered page 1, page five will be numbered page 2,etc... and that will run through the document...i have tried the help assistant, and reading my word 2000 for dummies to NO AVAIL, please help immediately? |

Hi Mikersp - I know how unhelpful Microsoft's "help" can be. I hope these instructions explain it better. I used screen capture and a graphics program to give you an idea what to look for: What you want to do is: Click on "View" and click on Header and Footer. You should get a floating Header and Footer toolbar like the one in http://209.151.82.182/word2.gif. Click on that third icon (it's circled, but looks like a hand holding a page with a # in it). When you click on that icon, you'll get a popup tool named "Page Number Format" ... it is in the Page Number Format tool that you can start your new page number (on what is really your page 4) - just click on start with page 1 and choose the number styling you want to use. Once you learn where all these things are hidden, it's pretty easy to do. It's just finding them that can get tricky. I hope this helps, Serenata | |
