expansion card

A printed circuit card such as a video card, sound card or internal
modem, that plugs into an expansion slot and adds functionality to the
PC .

modem

A peripheral device that connects computers to each other via phone
lines, (or cable these days), allowing users to send and receive
communications (such as e-mail) and to access the Internet. Modems may
be analog or wireless. An analog modem must be connected by a cable to
a phone jack. A wireless modem requires no cable connection.
Modem is short for :modulator-demodulator.

1.8 GHZ P4 microprocessor,

A microprocessor is a silicon chip that contains a CPU. In the world
of personal computers, the terms microprocessor and CPU are used
interchangeably. Microprocessors also control the logic of almost all
digital devices, from clock radios to fuel-injection systems for
automobiles.

The 1.8 is the clock speed which determines how many instructions per
second the processor can execute. In this case it is measured in
Gigahertz, some are measured in megahertz (MHz), the higher the value
the more powerful the CPU.

P4 = Pentium 4 chip and is based on Intel® NetBurst? microarchitecture

motherboard

The main circuit board of the computer that contains the CPU, the RAM,
the SBus, the ports, the BIOS, and expansion slots. Also called system
board.

print server

A print server is a machine that continuously checks the printer and
print queues it is servicing to see if there are jobs that need to be
processed. It looks at its queue on to see if there is a job. If there
is a job, the server reads in the entire job and calculates the number
of pages the job will consume. When a printer becomes free, the print
server subtracts the correct number of pages from the owner's paper
quota, and transfers the file directly into the printer. One exception
arises if the printer is a Networked Printer. In this case, the job is
sent to the printer's "out" queue. All print servers are capable of
servicing multiple queues as well as multiple printers simultaneously.
