I have written technical books that have been published by well-known
publishers and now I am thinking of taking a stab at self-publishing
my next title. Some of my previous books have been translated to
languages such as Korean and Japanese. I believe the publishers
charged between $2,000 and $5,000 flat for rights in each language.
The fee simply allows the company to translate the book and sell in
their region (as I understand it).
As I prepare a marketing plan for my book, I was wondering what
companies buy rights for the translation of these books.
I am looking for a list of companies that purchase the writes to
translate computer/technical books in foreign countries. Any
information regarding ranges that they are willing to pay and how they
make their decisions would be greatly appreciated. I am also curious
if computer books for translation are in demand (and sought after) or
if they are in abundance (where these translation companies are very
selective).
Thanks in advance. |

Let me point out that I am not looking for companies that will only
translate the book but instead I am looking for companies willing to
PAY ME to translate it and sell it.
Thanks again.

Hi, jroff!
To better meet your request, in which languages are you fluent?
Thanks,

English. ;)
I want to sell my Enlish written book to a company that would be
interested in translating it themselves to sell in their country. I
believe that East Asia would be the market I'm going for... but there
could be others.
Thanks for looking!

jroff,
Oh, okay, you are not looking for companies to pay you to translate
it, but to pay you for THE RIGHTS to translate it, correct?
Thanks,
