I have found references to a CBS documentary from 1964 or 1965 with
almost the exact same title.  (CBS did not exist from 1916 to 1920;
footage of the events described in the documentary would be from that
time.) I'm checking into whether it is available to purchase or to
view. Would you be happy viewing the film, even if you cannot
purchase it? If so, in what area are you located (so that an
appropriate place to view it might be found)?

In 1964-65 CBS broadcast a multi-part series about World War I. One
of the episodes may have included "Woodrow Wilson" in its title, but I
have not been able to confirm that yet. A video of this series was
released in box set form, but it is not currently widely available;
that is, I haven't yet been able to find it yet. Would you be
interested in the complete box set if individual episodes of the
series are not available on video?

I live in Sarasota Florida. I need to view the film and would like to
buy or rent a copy of the film; if it's the film I saw back in New
Jersey around 1984-5 on a public broadcast channel 13 I think. It was
a history channel on the local cable tv company at the time.I copied
the Credits for the film at that time because on the film I saw a
large picture of President Woodrow Wilson depicted on the film. I have
that Picture in my possession and need a copy of it being shown in the
film to inhance its value for possible sale.thank you Denis F. Healy

I have reached a dead end on this question, so I am posting the best
information I have at this point as a comment.

I think it is likely that the program you are seeking was one of the
22-part series originally produced and broadcast by CBS News in
1954-1965. It apparently was rebroadcast on a cable network during the
time period you recall, and I have found no other candidates. The
fact that CBS Broadcasting International was credited in the broadcast
you saw is also strong evidence that this is the series you are
looking for. I know from personal experience that CBS Broadcast
International was at that time the entity responsible for the
syndication of much program material owned by CBS.

The series was called "The Complete Story of World War I" and was
released on video on 1994. Amazon.com has offered it in the past, but
it is not now in stock. Here is Amazon.com's page relating to the
video:

I have checked other vendors of new and used videos, as well as the
main auction sites, and I have not come up with a copy that is
currently for sale.

You noted that you watched it on a cable channel in the 1980's. One
source I have found indicates that it was carried on the A&E Network
in the "late 1980s." This may be consistent with your recollection of
when you viewed the episode in question. Here is a link to that site:
The Emancipation Destination: "World War I: A CBS News Production
http://www.w3taxi.com/emancipation/ww1.shtml

Finally, here is an outline of the contents of the five-volume video:
Northern Indiana Educational Services Center
http://db.niesc.k12.in.us/esc7news/news9801.pdf

Unfortunately, this outline does not contain the titles of each of the
22 broadcast episodes of the series, so I cannot confirm that the
phrase "Wilson and the War" was the title of one of them.

If no other researcher can nail down an answer, I suggest that you
check with a local university library or large public library in the
hope of finding and borrowing or viewing a copy.

Of course, I would be happy to post this information as an answer if
this lead turns out to lead you to the video you are seeking.

Good luck.

I believe the Library of congress requires and keeps (as well as makes
available with copyright owners permission)copies of all materials
submitted for registration protection. If they have a copy of what
you seek, it would probably be a very good one from which you could
extract the best possible image.
